PC Gamer MP Game of the Year: Red Orchestra 2!

Great news indeed! Shame that all comments commenting RO2 at http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/02/08/pc-gamer-us-game-of-the-year-awards-2012/ were against the RO2.. Many people who tried RO2 don't seem to have faith to believe that TWI is actually still making it better and supporting it for years. Tbh I kind of got fed up with active RO2 playing, but I'm still trusting in TWI that they fix rest of bug issues and make there a lot of new content stuff to get large RO2 community back (like they did with KF). And all those mods coming out my goodness.. Can't wait for them!

Brillliant!
I knew I wasn't the only one who actually PLAYED the game enough to realise it's a great successor to RO1, and totally annihilates the competition.

-It's just a shame that the game is largely shrouded to the public eye by dismissive first impressions by reviewers! As someone on these forums has said, what RO2 absolutely deserves is a re-review; maybe when the new content is out.

On the other hand, SimHQ denied Red Orchestra 2 the award and decided to award the best land & armor simulation to no one. Quote;

Best Commercial Land & Armor Simulation
WINNER: None

Sorry, no cigar. Red Orchestra 2 was in the running with some nice new features, but too bad it was dumbed-down in its second version. Why couldn't we have version one's tactical abilities with all that new polishing? Oh well, maybe in version three.

First off let me say I do enjoy RO2 (sometimes) but I strongly disagree with this decision. It has a great deal of potential but I don't see how anyone playing it could honestly hand on heart say it was the best MP Game of the Year. It was and still is fraught with bugs, poor design decisions and a very small community and it's pretty clear it was released way too early.

If the award sells a few more copies both myself and TWI benefit but I can't help but feel that this decision was made more on the basis of it being a psudeo-indie/trendy/unexpected choice - and I love PC Gamer too, but I don't think they must have been playing the same game as me and most of the other guys on this forum.

TLDR: RO2 has loads of potential but is pretty badly realised currently.
