WWII is(was) the popular theme. Vietnam is just WWII in jungles. It's not like it extremely popular or something. There are as many vietnam shooters as there are modern/future shooters.

It is, though - every FPS for the last I don't know how many years seems to have the obligatory Vietnam expansion. Hell, even Magicka (which is another genre entirely) spoofed this fact by having its own Vietnam-themed DLC.

You don't know many fps then. Only few (mainly cod and bf3 and those who copycat or parody them) had vietnam expansion.

There probably won't be any updates, no. I think this mod is on hold due to a lack of manpower and/or interest.

I hope the maps will be like mamayev kurga! i love this map and without submachineguns and some positioned mg's it would be a ****ing intense close quarters combat game! imagine you are walking through a trench and suddenly an enemy pops in and you both fire and miss followed by a bayonet fight ! AWESOME

The mod is not dead, it's in cryo-freezing. I've been trying to urge the mod team to make an official post about this, but they seem not to want to.
The mod is on hold due to lack of time and other things going on. I used the phrase cryo-freezing because cryo-freezing has a success/failure ration that varies. You may never wake up, as the mod may never wake back up.
It's not dead, just don't expect anything new until it comes up..... or doesn't.

Doesn't sound good. I hope they continue to work on the mod, but RO2 player numbers are so small as it is already.
I have a feeling even if a quality mod is released there might not be much of a player base left.

The things is, not even we know if the mod is dead of not. And the moment no real progress is made due to a lack of members. Half of the remaining team wants to continue the project and the other half has accepted that it isn't going to happen.

It's a shame though about this mod. Wish I could help you guys out, but I don't have much modding skills. Maybe I should try to learn some this summer vacation.
