The Review thread

Right now this is maybe a 7/10 game. While the graphics are looking very good imo it still stands in no proper relationship to performance. I play every other game on high settings with awesome performance, RO2 I have to play in medium-high settings and it is still borderline 20-30fps only. So the performance better be improved or I probably won't spend much time on this game. The potential for it to be a 9/10 game is definitely there, it's just the ****load of bugs and bad performance.

@Wilsonam- Just curious, on the home page it mentions our review and it say "The writer looks suspiciously familiar" The writer(Jester) nor my self know what that means. Is there something I'm missing?

But thanks for putting it up on the front page! :)
Oooops - sorry! I just jumped to an erroneous conclusioN!

Let's not forget Metacritic's User reviews. The score is tanking by the hour on there.

Metacritic is useless, it tends toward console games and console gamers, when a game does not look or feel like a console it will usually get a low score. If you read the reviews of the people trashing the game, it mirrors the same thing in the general forums, complaining about what appears to be no more than "the game does not look or feel like their favorite FPS", I get a kick out of the gamers with their uber-rigs that complain about not being able to play the game, then complain that the graphics are dated and clunky. Personally I find the graphics more appealing than CoD 4 and 5, more interesting than BFBC2 and enjoy that it takes a little more thought to win a match. It is comical that they complain that there is no player tags over the other character heads, that there bullets are not laser precise, or any of the other 10,000 rants about the game.
Let them rant, it means that they will move on to another game and I will not have to deal with these type ruining the game for the other players. I do not think that this is a 100 percent game, but I enjoy this much more than some of those other games that have no depth to them.

Maybe Gamers underground accidentally put it out of 10 and it was meant to be out of 5...

I do not think they know how to review, they gave Brink a 7 out of 10, it looked so bad I did not even consider it http://gamers-underground.com/content/939-brink-review.html for whatever my opinion is worth

Hehe, I don't blame you. Now I look like a knockoff... if I knew that there was an active Jester here then I would have gone for a different name.

I agree about the performance, although the graphics aren't even THAT good. Comparing it to other PC exclusive games, I'd say its around average. It looks better than Killing Floor, not quite as good as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or Crysis for example. I actually run Crysis on maximum settings with 16xQ AA at a higher frame rate than RO2 (45 FPS vs 30-40 FPS).

I haven't encountered too many bugs personally. One CTD, server browser not working sometimes, and the German Campaign 8 going nowhere.

Well Im a bit disappointed in the release version of the game but I have faith that the game will get a lot better in the next lets say 4 weeks. Also its interesting to see how some people / pages write reviews, what they think of the game etc.

About Metacritic, what I did is I liked to the general page of RO2 on metacritic, you can think what you want about that page but if some people here want to check the page out for various reviews thats okay.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry. This "review" is only about single player and apparently he is absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer complexety of the gamecontrols. I mean the controls are pretty standart for a fps, right? Or is it just me beeing so used to complex controls because I spend hundreds of hours in Arma 2 and its editor that RO2 controls feel easy?

The difficulty is that the weapon system, while complex, is actually too slow and complicated to use in a combat situation. Without an on-screen cross hair you can kiss firing from the hip goodbye, which means every battle, no matter the distance, must be done with iron sights. That means for the majority of fights you have to click one button to raise your sights, another to adjust for distance, yet another to
