Gamescon gossip.

Multiple artillery calibers; mortars to MRLs.....nice!

So a recon plane, but not necessarily an artillery spotter plane? This is yet a bit confusing, as aerial artillery direction is possible w/o a ground observer (w/binocs) being needed. This almost sounds like aerial reconnaissance reports, which can then be followed up by a ground FO's response to the intelligence.......or, just some misunderstanding of the mechanics involved in this artillery direction by the article author here.

Well maybe, just maybe these planes arent ingame during a fight?
I remember a tug of war being announced, the battles going back and forth etc over map. Perhaps it could be used there for a few times to get an arty bonus during an assault?
Considering most of current RO's maps are too small to fully support planes properly, this could be the alternative to not having them at all.
Or maybe maps are really that big? :)

At this point in the info-stream it's still hard to tell about this SiC-Disaster. As you noted, for arty aerial obs, the plane would need to loiter over a fairly large map area while calling in and directing artillery fire onto target. Whereas a photo-recon plane would just need a single overflight to fire off a reel of pictures to be processed (and later used for intel).

Financially, would it make more sense for TWI to release a seperate WW2 tank game?(I would rather have this, that way I don't have to leave a server when a tank map comes up, and vice versa for the tankers)

Imo addon "Heroes Of Kursk" would be more interesting option. I think that RO:O fans would appreciate it and buy it after RO:HoS. Maybe if that would be stand alone addon, which doesn't require HoS... Don't know I'm not marketing specialist but I'd buy it and even if there wouldn't be IS-2 :IS2: ;)

Anyway I'm pretty sure that Tripwire "surprise" us with big news about tanks and vehicles when they will be ready to tell the world about it.

Ok - that gives us some idea of journo timing - Christophor Rick was one of the first to get the demo on Wed morning... lets see how fast the others (including non-English-speaking, obviously, being a European show) get their pieces up!

Who were those others? Just so we can keep an eye out and dont miss anything :)

You know, I don't really see anything wrong with what that guy said about Danzig. He said it was reimagined. Give it a chance. It could turn out to be as much of an improvement as the 'reimagined' Battlestar Galactica was over the original.

Also, did you really think that there wouldn't be something Danzig-like in Stalingrad? I mean, never mind the urban combat aspect of it, but Danzig is / was probably the single most popular map in RO:O. You can complain about it all you want, but if there weren't enough players constantly wanting Danzig and nothing but, there wouldn't be all those 24/7 Danzig servers. It'd be stupid to alienate a big chunk of your customer base by not putting in something Danzig-ish.

The only thing i don't get about danzig is how can anyone one play the same map literally year in and year out... I think the 24/7s are one of the main reasons i dont play OF and have moved on to playing DH when I have a itch for some RO. They would be ok if there was a mix of servers but most of the time is danzig or a tanks only sever,

I hope RPS got a look in, not only as they are the only games journalist site I read with any regularity and are generally quite fair about stuff (and biased about stuff they totally love though I doubt RO fits in their niches that way) but they'll also ask the important questions that other don't ask such as if we can shoot someone and go over and steal their hat (very important feature), oh and pointless flushable toilets!
