The Electronic music thread

Yeah, you know how everyone speculates.. supposedly it's RDJ or a collab between Tom and Rich. Rephlex and all. As Richie says, we shouldnt care who made the music, just enjoy it. Funny you post Come To Daddy.. I've got everything that's out in the wild, hopped down to ATP at UCLA in '02 to catch his dj set, waste entirely too much time on the lookout for a new alias to pop up (seriously, stop making us hunt you down), I'm a fan basically, and that particular track is just well off the radar. What a phase.

So.. now that you've posted it and I've sat through it once again, I'm in need of some decompression. Rhodes-y vibes.. *deep breath*

Damn, we might have like one week in July here like that. *If we're lucky* that is... :(

I like some of Squarepusher but like Nestor I stay away from his bat-*** noodling glitch stuff. That was very nice though.

I wouldn't say I stay away from his bonkers stuff, tbh It's a bit random.

On the one hand I like fairly routine stuff like this:

..but one of my faves ever is this:

Go figure.

That last one you posted there isnt even that wild for my ears; reminds me of The Clifford Gilberto Rhythm Combination, but a touch less 'jazzy'. I rather enjoy complexity but it has to be nuanced; there has to be some taste and subtlety there (misdirection and syncopation, not necessarily together, are always nice as well). The straight up non-rhythmic brain pounding/melting stuff is good for a once over, but it's not something I return to too often.

It's a shame this next track is the only copy on youtube cause it's a sweet one imo.. the guy has a brain-fart at :22, obviously that sound is not part of the song, and he has a couple minor skips (1:53, 2:22) along with an overall muted tone. Goes without saying it sounds so much wider and dynamic off the CD or in flac. Uploader fail (I mean, really, just re-do it ffs, how can you be happy with that upload)

These guys are based in SF.

The Ebi was nice, Shad. I hadn't heard of him before, good stuff.[/URL]
