My Ubuntu gnome/OSX combo. I like some of the ubuntu things so I kept it that way. Brand new to linux, and having a hard time figuring out how to install Enemy Territory. I start the .run file in a terminal, then nothing happens.

Uhm did you give the .run the correct (executing) rights?

Right click on the file choose Properties (? if it is named that way) and choose the tab where you can change the rights. Now tick execute for user (or tick everything, not really important in that case) and try executing it in a terminal again. You can also change the rights with chmod, type man chmod and you'll get the explanation.
