Secrets of the Dead: Deadliest Battle

125 refences indeed, but the "controversy" section (which contains 50 citations) all cites the same 4 authors, and three of them seems to base their claims on the fourth namely Frieser, and none them seems to be highly regarded by general academia on the subject.

And you are most welcome to name the titles of those books by Eimannsberger and Volckheim, and I won't mind you pointing out the instances where Guderian copied them.

Volckheim's books and notes:

Books

  • Ernst Volckheim: Die deutschen Kampfwagen im Weltkriege (German Tanks in the World War), Berlin 1923; later republished under Ernst Volckheim: Deutsche Kampfwagen greifen an! Erlebnisse eines Kampfwagenf

They most certainly didn't have the economy to sustain a long war of attrition, they knew that. That's why Moscow had to be taken fast ( Like Paris, in the BoF). And so the race for Moscow started. And then all went to **** when they didn't reach it in time. Far overstretched and outnumbered they were beaten back. Doesn't mean that when they in fact did reach Moscow and captured it the war was won, nobody knows that, but it is unlikely that it would have, especially because they didn't have the momentum they had in the beginning of the invasion to trap hundreds of thousands of soldiers in pockets, so they would have retreated and attacked sooner or later.

Talking about Moscow they did reach it on time and could have taken it when Zhukov was interview in 1956 he said they had nothing to hold the Germans back 80000 thousand men he had to defend Moscow. Hitlers insistence of ordering Guderian back down south because of the slow progress in the south. Doomed it from that point on when Guderian was sent back up again it was to late.and the insistence of stalins russian spy's in Tokyo telling him Japan's eyes where elsewhere . Enabled him to unleash his Siberian divisions to Moscow.but I suppose we could argue the bejesus out of this one
