[Game] Tribes Ascend

I never played Tribes back in the day myself, but from what I know it was kind of a big deal.

So for all of you major hardcore Tribes fans of years past, what do you think of this?

The ending quote had me cracking up . If this turns out well it could be one of my most anticipated games in a loooong time, right next to RO2. Tribes is an incredible series, and out of all the multiplayer shooters I've played maybe the one that's the hardest to master. (good thing)

Ya I saw that... don't really get that logic at all.

Disregarding the fact that both Tribes 1 and 2 came out before Halo: Combat Evolved, the gameplay of the two series isn't even remotely similar.

Man I really hope this turns out well. LAN parties in the school computer lab with Starsiege Tribes are some of my fondest gaming memories .

EDIT: Sweet! Looks like they're based in Georgia which means according to their website I could show up for live playtesting at their studio .

The gameplay doesn't really do anything for me.
I can just play red faction with a low gravity mod to get the same thing.

Its being developed by hi-res studios same guys behing global agenda so no not the same developers

Not the wide levels and the jet-pack+dunes=acceleration flow!

I played Tribes 2 heavily, and to a lesser extent Tribes: Vengence...however after a considerble amount of time the gameplay just started to grind, silly stalemate and/or base rape got the better of me and I stopped playing.

Interested to see what they do with it though.

Saw the short gameplay trailer and to me it looked cheap. Gave me no reason to be interested in it whatsoever. But I never played any of the original Tribes games, so maybe it's just the nostalgia effect not working on me.

Not really my kind of thing either. It might have stirred up some interest in me back in 2001.

Hope they do a good job of it to please the fans.

BTW for anyone who's interested you can play Tribes 2 for free, just google Tribes Next. I just checked it out there's multiple servers with 30+ people.

Having a blast, despite getting utterly raped .

Graphics are a decade old but you'll forget that pretty quickly...

Global Agenda is one of those F2P games on Steam now. I tried it and based on that, I'm not looking forward to the new Tribes at all.

the character redesigns for diamond sword looks meh. but blood eagle looks fantastic.

Tribes series is definitely one of my top 5 games ever, whoever never played it back in the day missed out big time. Very deep gameplay. Much more so than a lot of "realistic" games actually

God dang it, I got a beta key and created an account but I just can't get the bloody thing to work.
It just says the servers are "Busy" on the launcher.
Anyone know how to fix this?
