Okay, but how many servers will have crosshairs and 3rd person disabled AND will be full?

I'll wait for this answer and a screenshot of the server list before I make a decision.

When I last time I played on public in ArmA 2 (about 3 years ago, after release) about < 5% of servers had lower difficulty level turned on (crosshair and other crap). Since then I've never seen a crosshair in ArmA 2 game ;).

Take a note that most of ArmA 2 servers run ACE and ACRE addons, which improve realism and immersion even more.

This is how your "GUI/HUD" looks like in ArmA 2 ACE game:

no crosshairs, ammo status, GPS, waypoints, weapon unlock or level progression info or other crap.
Just a compass, a map, radio, your weapon and bunch of friends ;) + free look

I can't even remember the last time I played on a ARMA server with crosshairs on, remember, the people playing ARMA are more into realism than any other game that I am aware of. No one wants crosshairs so they are always turned off. The people who want all the arcade crap don't last 5 minutes in ARMA. 3rd person on/off varies and A2 is the only game where I'm fine either way. At first glance, you think it's a cheat, but the maps are so big, it's hard to scan horizons and so much terrain looking for enemy that are tiny, hard to spot and can be anywhere in a full 360 degree battlefield. It basically eliminates the "blinders on" feeling you can get. Plus, since there is total environmental collision, it's easy to get snagged on things in first person.

And FreeLook FTW.

Here is a link of a german pc games mag:
http://www.pcgames.de/Iron-Front-Liberation-1944-PC-236843/Tests/Iron-Front-Liberation-1944-im-Test-Kein-Arma-2-im-Zweiten-Weltkrieg-Das-Schlachtfeld-wird-zum-Spielspass-Grab-885210/

It doesnt sound good, Iron Front is infected with the same Problems as Arma2.
Test Result:Overall 55%

It's actually 52%, but they just tested the singleplayer and I guess everyone who has played ArmA2 knows that the engine is not capable of delivering great singleplayer experiences ...

Here's a little preview:

Ah-hah! This is when the real fun starts!

I have my popcorn ready and will gleefully observe progress on how expectant people turn into hate-monging monsters when their idealised vision of the game turns out to be a phantasm! Oh joy!

Such provoking comments and the attempt to start a flamewar are not really helpful and totally unnecessary.
Of course you have to be realistic: the dev team is a very small one, the budget is very low and the engine has some "flaws" that come with it, e.g. the AI, outdated animations, clumsy handling, etc.. And of course the singleplayer experience can't cope with other games as well. But it also has its strong aspects: lots of content, the editor, the extreme amount of mods to expect (if everything goes well) and the lots of potential of the multiplayer. I am sure there will be a lot of people who will enjoy it, of course those people consist mostly of the "hardcore" crowd, an "avarage call of duty player" (no offense) will probably not have fun with IF44.

I am really looking forward to the release and I've been playing the beta for more than 2 months, so I know what I am talking about and I am not even an ArmA2 player, so I'd suggest everyone to give this game a chance and watch some youtube content after the realese to get a proper impression of the game and then judge.

Most of the game magazines' reviews are just crap, because they haven't played the most important part of this game yet: the multiplayer.

Im excited about this game, and i dont care how bad the reviews are, the more hardcore a game will be the better is it for me.
Noodle how is the performance in this game.
Can i run this game with medium high settings with my rig:
Phenom II x4 965 3,4 ghz
4 Gb 1333 mhz ram
Radeon Hd 6850 1 gb

I can't judge since I have a quite different rig, but just test it with ArmA2 [free], the performance or more or less the same ;)

I really can't understand why TWI would do their free week-end the exact same week-end this is released...

Seem like a really bad move considering their vanishing player base

That is what your PR/commercial specialist would recommend. If you know that competition offers more you should do whatever you can to distract customers.

You see what TWI do:
- after 10 months they release a new patch with a ONE new map
- classic mode that should be here out from the box and it still doesn't offer much comparing to RO:O
- action mode - n/c

..and that's it. Coop mode, multiplayer campaign mode, new tanks, APCs, attachable bayos, entering/disembarking tanks, 3D voip, demorec 2.0 and many other features are still missing.

They made that video which they say how they listen to community... Too bad they didn't mentioned how many guys they banned from RO:O community.

TWI at least got what they deserved: 500 players online, empty servers filled with bots and dead competitive/mod community. They also lost a lot of respect as developer.
