Cool Mods you Should be playing

A Path Beyond
http://www.apathbeyond.com/
Red Alert: A Path Beyond brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game "Command & Conquer: Red Alert" to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've tried to remain loyal to the style and feel of the 1996 classic, while integrating content from its expansions Counterstrike and The Aftermath with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3d engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game.

On top of that they added DX9 support as well asa a bunch of new shading techniques to bring the engine into the next generation of gaming.

The mod is now standalone thanks to some hefty support from EA and uses a new server connection system to remove the use of XWIS

sounds nice. but do you know a little more about the system requirements? it says on the website that you'd only have to be able to run windows 2000 in order to run this... i can't quite believe it. let's say if i can play the regular day of defeat (half-life 1) just fine, will this one run, too?

You should definitely be able to play it smoothly if you can run DoD without problems.

Out of Hell

Unreal Tournament 2004

http://outofhell.net/

For those Survival Horror enthusiasts who are looking for adventure and a dark and twisted story, look no further. Out of Hell has a perfect blend of Survival Horror, in terms of gameplay, story, and visuals. It is an awesome piece of work.

Now there are issues with considering newer hardware, this can be fixed by optimizing the Nvidia (or ATI) control panel settings for UT2k4. As well as using OpenGL which helps boost performance.

If you're a fan of Resident Evil and/or Silent Hill, look no further. This Total Conversion will deliver :)
