So, for ArmA 2 i have started recreating some missions out of Hidden and Dangerous 1 and 2, using the Invasion 44 mod.
Those British Commando units just begged for it, and the map Thirsk did too: they fit together perfectly.
I cant recreate the missions perfectly for several reasons. Mostly maps available. I cant make my own, so i have to use existing ones and find suitable locations. Instead of a perfect remake, i try to recreate the same layout as much as possible, and keep the original atmosphere.

So, as a nice warmer-up, here are a few comparison screenshots.

Mission 1 from Hidden and Dangerous 1:

The Bridge:

Which had to become a dam near the sea:

Except for the fact the bridge has been replaced with a dam, the rest of the map layout is mostly preserved.

The other side of the bridge:

Onto the next mission: the first mission from Hidden and Dangerous 2.

Crashed British airplane:

In ArmA 2:

Unfortunately, because there was no such model in ArmA 2 available, i had to settle for a crashed C-130. Only other wrecks were modern fighter planes, which would have looked even more out of place.

Following the guide in H&D2:

And in ArmA 2:

And thanks to the wounding module that comes with Invasion 44 (which is recommended for use too, otherwise the SMG's are crap. Without it, soldiers take a lot of shots to die. Somebody decided to 'balance' the weapon damage, unfortunately. But with the mod, soldiers will become incapacitated with a nice new animation:

Oi. Did I miss something?

>_>
Let's just say... we found out where Yosh's doomsday device was hidden after all this time.

Links found it in the editor after someone hit upon it in the actual game, so if you haven't talked to him already about removing it, you might want to.

There is a lot. Oh yes, we're standing roughly where the lobby was in some of those screens.
