Setting up an xbox 360 controller with killing floor

Okay, okay, gamepads are not as good as keyboard and mouse, I'll just be zombie bait, yada yada, I've already heard it.

I really prefer to use a controller and I saw this thread:
http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=35744

I've got most of the buttons figured out but these darn control sticks don't make sense to me, and I was wondering if anyone here has them already figured out (so, you know, I can copy your work).

The default controls with the joystick option enabled let me walk/strafe around just fine, but I cannot figure out how to get aBaseX and lookup working with the right control stick.

Any help would be appreciated.

okay, I used the search function a bit and found that UT2004 settings seem to work as far aiming goes, but here's the kicker, whenever I have an action mapped to button 5 (the left shoulder button) I cannot move in the game unless I am holding that button (also, I can't look around if this button has an action mapped to it).

any known reason for this?

The controller I'm using is a (sweet) wired tron controller if that makes any difference...

I use a program called joy to key to use my PS3 controller for killing floor (annd yes this progam works with 360 controllers as well)

you can download the software here :http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey English Version.htm

what the program does is you personally set each button on the controller to be what you want it to be. Like lets say the second right shoulder button you want to shoot , so you program that to be the left click mouse and then whenever you hold down that button during the game you'll shoot. This personally i found the best way to hook a controller up to KF because i heard that it doesn't really have a controller enable feature , If you think this is a method you want to use Send me a PM here on the forums i can give you help setting up the controls using the program , and if you want as well i can give you my control file for killing floor and you can change that to fit the buttons on your 360 control if you need to ( though the PS3 and the Xbox 360 controller seem to have the same basic set up 2 joy sticks, 1 control pad, 4 buttons on the front(A,B,Y,X), 2 shoulder buttons ( L1,L2,R1,R2), Start,Select, and a home button.)

hope this helps :)

believe me, I know of joy2key/xpadder/pinnacle.

I do not like these programs as they never feel right. Laggy and choppy input just plain sucks.

I got the controller to work in the game (not able to get the triggers working) but it needs me to press the left shoulder button before it will work.

that's just odd....
