Server Redirecting compressed maps using DropBox?

only difference being you need to use their client app for transfers.

This part of your post confused me, for anyone else who decides to use dropbox.. you can transfer the files to dropbox however you want, I found it easiest though to download the dropbox program because you can just copy your maps folder (and textures, etc.) into the public folder on your computer and they upload, nice and simple.

really? last time I checked they allowed uploads from their app only. so what do we have now, like html upload, ftp, or what? I'm interested since I've considered switching to dropbox too, just held off since I don't like installing proprietary client apps.

honestly I'm not exactly sure what it uses, i think http, but yeah you can log in and this is your top bar

dropboxpic.JPG

You could use that to upload multiple items at once, or you can download their program and use that.

I could see why you wouldn't want to download it but if you do, you just have to copy the files into your DP folder and they upload, don't even have to touch the browser, which I really liked, at least to transfer all my maps for the first time. Just remember, like you said, use your public folder.

I tried using dropbox, couldn't get it to work either, so I used fileden http://www.fileden.com/

Register, they make you hunt for the "SKIP" button on the 10 or so surveys they try to make you do.

made a folder called KillingFloor

upload a map to that directory.

right click the file, properties.

click Linking codes: URL

Copy the address provided.

http://www.fileden.com/files/XXXX/X/XX/XXXXXXXX/KillingFloor/*mapname*

Remove the mapname off the end

http://www.fileden.com/files/XXXX/X/XX/XXXXXXXX/KillingFloor/

Go to your KillingFloor.ini and locate [IpDrv.HTTPDownload]

In the RedirectToURL= place the location of the compressed map:

RedirectToURL=http://www.fileden.com/files/XXXX/X/XX/XXXXXXXX/KillingFloor/
