Pitch black environment

So, my friend is having this issue with the game where everything is pitch black with the exception of particles, skybox, and screen space reflections.
The problem momentarily goes away when looking down the iron sights.
He hasn't had this issue before, he's running with updated drivers, and has verified his steam cache.
Any help is appreciated.

Is he running the game in Sli by any chance?

I'm also having a similar issue, and yes I run on SLI but the game was fine a few months ago

well.... You have 2 options to fix your problem while devs try to optimise game for sli.
1: disable one of the cards for the game
or 2: turn on vsync, if i remember correctly that should fix the black texture problem
