Since the Christmas Update my server correctly identifies the item state (4) of maps that are subscribed to steam workshop but then tries to download them anyway. The result is a continuous stream of checking, attempting to download and reporting "no update available for item ..."

Anyone else notice this new behavior? It uses a lot of CPU for this.

Prior to the Christmas update, dedicated servers had issues receiving updates for Workshop items they're subscribed to. They fixed it thankfully, however, it now checks for updates a bit differently. Although it says Downloading item <ID>, it doesn't actually appear to be downloading anything so those messages are nothing to be alarmed about. If there is actually an update for your Workshop Item, you'll get an Item State is 12

You can't stop the server for checking Workshop updates as far as I know; it does that automatically. Although it is possible to mute certain messages from the server console so it stops spamming them. Open PCServer-KFEngine.ini and add Suppress=NetComeGo under [Core.System] You'll see a lot of other suppressed items there so you can't miss it. Not sure if it will help your CPU usage, a server should only use between 0.1% and 5%.
