Server I have a question. What are the functions of port #27015 and #20560?

KF2 servers require 4 ports which can be remapped. By default they are 7777, 27015, 8080 and 20560 respectively. For servers hosting weekly game modes an additional port 123 is required for type of weekly event confirmation.

Function of 7777 is obvious- game communication data
8080- webadmin console

What is the use of port 27015 and 20560? It seems that port 27015 is to notify the steam master server that there is a KF2 server here to be enlisted. Is it right? What is the use of 20560 then?

Also another question: KF2 servers seems available to be run on LINUX systems. And I know that routers tend to run on LINUX.
Is it possible to run this server on ROUTERS instead of PCs?

Concerning the ports I only know what's listed here: https://wiki.tripwireinteractive.com/index.php?title=Dedicated_Server_(Killing_Floor_2)#Ports

And no, you can't run it on a regular consumer router, since the decicated server eats 1,5-2GB RAM, most routers have 128MB, if they're beefy ones. Set aside that the architecture of the chips inside the router mostly aren't x86 processors and the embedded linux on the router is so stripped down that you couldn't run the libraries needed.

LOL. I recalled that. You're right about the RAM issue. My server has 8 gigabytes of RAM and is eligible of running 5 servers. NO more. The servers took all of the RAM despite the fact that the taskmgr didn't show this. That's a full strip of DDR3 memory which is hardly thinkable by routers!

uh, the question is, can kf2 servers run on non-X86 hardwares? ARM CPUs with Linux as OS?

Where did you get the info about the extra port needed to be able to run weekly event? Also, the port 20560 can not be manually set, it is all automatic from the game port value; this is the only port we can not decide. I think this is mabe a port needed to work with steam (workshop?). It is default of UE3 so maybe look what it is used for in other UE3 games?
