Please use common courtesy, and enjoy using Red Orchestra's forums
Offensive material
The following is a list of some things that MAY be considered "offensive" by the moderators and the team. This is NOT an exclusive list and it does depend very much on context.

Crossing the line into "offensive" territory is likely to get you asked to change your name, sig or avatar or to withdraw/delete posts. This will be done politely by the moderators. If you refuse to comply further action WILL be taken once started, ultimately leading to banning from the forums.

A key point: please attempt to use your brains. What is mild humour to you may well be deeply offensive to others. While we have no intention of acting as politically-correct "thought police", we are on the lookout for those things that can cause offense and, in some cases, are actually still illegal in some jurisdictions.
  1. Names recalling notorious war criminals or personalities.
  2. Names recalling atrocities and war crimes in general, or units with particularly odious histories.
  3. Use of obscenities and expletives.
  4. Blatant racism, mysogynism or many other "ism"s.
  5. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Nazism or Fascism; this does not include pics of soldiers who happen to have such symbols on their uniform, unless we feel this has been done to provoke. Please note that many Nazi symbols (including the Swastika) are still illegal in Germany and other countries and considered deeply offensive by many Europeans.
  6. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Stalinism.
  7. On both the previous two, the moderators' views on the intention and impact of use of such symbols will be final - not yours. Please be understanding if you are advised to change something.
  8. In general, if a sig/avatar represents your allegiances in-game and is clearly "in part", it is likely to be fine; if the moderators feel you are trying to demonstrate unpalatable political allegiances, or to use it in an attempt to ridicule or provoke others you WILL be asked to change it. RO is NOT the place to make any extremist political statements of any kind.

Examples:
So people get the idea, some examples that would be considered offensive, numbered as above:
  1. "Hitler", "Beria"
  2. "NKVD Blocking Detachment", "Einsatzgruppen"
  3. This one should be pretty obvious...
  4. So should this - and it includes calling all Germans "Nazis" and all Soviets/Russians "Commies". It got boring 50 years ago, so stop it.
  5. Use of swastikas, fasces, SS-runes and so on for the Axis.
  6. There is actually very little overt symbolism from the Stalinist era; the hammer-and-sickle isn't offensive per se.

A simple rule-of-thumb: many Europeans find Nazi symbolism of any sort offensive; many Americans still find Soviet symbolism offensive. Engage your brain before using.

Final Note: this is NOT open to debate, so please do NOT start whining and moaning if a moderator asks you to change something. They will advise at first, giving reasons, then, if you take no notice, they will step up the pressure through to banning.

  • Another Tier 5 weapon thread: M32 Edition

With the M32 and Thompson being announced, I think we still need Tier 5 weapons for 7 other perks.

To ensure that everyone has their own Tier 5 guns, what sort of weapons would you suggest?

To start off the thread, here are my suggestions:

Commando: Bren LMG (Drum mag variant)
Berserker: Electric Sword (can't buy ammo, light attacks regenerate ammo, heavy attacks fire sword beams)
Support: KS-23 Shotgun (pump-action shotgun made from spare 23mm anti-air gun parts)
Field Medic: HMTECH-666 Recoilless Rifle (No, the 501 doesn't count)
Firebug: M202 FLame Assault SHoulder Weapon.
Gunslinger: Dual OA-93 "Pistols" (Air quotes are there for a reason)
Survivalist: Zed Eradication Device (The original off-perk weapon)

Some of these are over exagerrated, Electric Sword for example. Original DIY melee weapon could work, something wicked new to a zombie game.

Zed Eradication Device on another hand won't arrive for Christmas being 3 weps we have announced already. :u

M60 for Commando. It's more iconic, looks great and has a lot of history to it.
And Zed Eradication Device would be great.

I'm not so sure there needs to be a T5 for each perk - doesn't that defeat the point of the upgrade system somewhat?

More weapons are always welcomed but someone like Commando has more weapons than they can choose from already lol.

The Stoner is a testament to why belt-fed weapons don't work in KF2. Meanwhile, the Bren fires a similarly powerful cartridge but instead uses a magazine feed.

However, the drum mag would most likely render iron sights useless, which would probably end with the Bren getting a holographic sight similar to the Husk Cannon

Belt feed was the part of the stoner that worked quite nicely. The animations were fairly nice, and the reload times were workable. With different price and weight, those reloads could be made nicely balanced even in spite of the appropriately low damage for it that many people were disappointed by.
For a new LMG shooting full power rifle rounds and dealing appropriate damage for that, the reload times of a belt fed could easily be acceptable, I think.

Higher iron sights were available for the BREN, to be usable with the drums. Video.

Support tier 5 should be a six barrels shotgun, because its an original idea.

Why do you feel that the 501 doesn't count as a tier 5 medic weapon?

Disregard every other opinion in thread on Mando recommendations: go MG42 for heavy machine gun; decrease power to balance for capacity (?). Tell you, "ze MG42 vorks good in the hands of a true soldat!"

Ammo capacity is so small that you will most likely use your healing grenades to kill Crawlers. It also highlights how stupidly linear the Medic's weapon progression is.

An HMTECH401 feels much more practical in most situations and if you absolutely need something to kill medium zeds, an off-perk M79 or .500 would be your solution

well wouldn't it make more sense to tweak the 501 instead of introducing a new medic weapon? It's obvious that tripwire likes to take their time with their guns, so it seems somewhat unnecessary to create another entire weapon.

Like, if the mednades had a recharge instead of an ammo count.

Also I feel that the medic have a more linear weapon progression than other perks is something that is just naturally going to happen. As far as I know, medic (and maybe beserker, idk off the top of my head) is the only perk that does not get other perk weapons with crossperk, so when a new medic weapon is created, it has to be made explicitly as a medic weapon.

The MK42B does 50 damage vs the 501s 47 damage. The MK42B is almost half as expensive and is two tiers lower. Nuff said. The 501 should hit slightly harder then the stock SCAR-H imo.

It's worth the price and weight, as the sum of its parts. If it were split into two weapons, the rifle and the mednade launcher, each costing 1000D and weighing 4kg, those would each be plenty worthwhile to players interested in them. If you happen to want to get both at the same time, 501 is great, but many people are more interested in one function or the other, and disappointed their function wasn't a clear focus. But mostly it's disappointing from bad timing, M99 established T5s as big flashy important things that will change everything, and now 501 is essentially a bargain of a package deal on two T3 weapons. A solid choice if you're into it, but not so exciting.

The upgrades system is slated for revamping, (in winter, I believe they said at PAX), for new functions and presumably balance. If that goes decently, I don't think we'll need to be in such a rush demanding base T5 weapons for all perks as top priority. We'll have many many decent options for top notch gear, and new weapons being in lower tiers will mean they provide more options: a T3 can be a T4 or T5 too, but a T5 is just always a T5. Base T5 weapons make sense for particular ideas that just wouldn't be satisfying in any weaker form.
