It feels like dosh needs to be increased per kill to accommodate the upgrade system

Instead of accommodating the rest of the game to the first set of pricing that they tried giving the upgrades, they should just balance the upgrades, to be priced at what they're worth. Especially since the upgrade system is planned to be made more intricate in the future anyways: https://forums.tripwireinteractive....ements-af/2318163-wwaut-a-prestigious-upgrade

If we assume that the goal of the upgrade system is that each upgrade makes a weapon "better by one tier", and in the future, the utility of the upgrades will be balanced to achieve that consistently, then the upgrade pricing is almost perfectly fair as is, when you compare it to selling a weapon and buying a one tier better weapon. However, the upgrades are overpriced in other applications: if you buy a weapon and then upgrade it in the same shopping trip, and/or if you intend to upgrade it multiple times in the same shopping trip. The extreme example is if you want to buy a T5, it costs 2500D to directly buy M99, but it will cost a thousand more to buy and upgrade a LAR: 200D +500+600+700+1500= 3500D.

To have fair prices on average for various applications of upgrading, 150, 500, 550, 550, 1200, would be my suggestion for a new standard set of upgrade prices. And balance the utility/weight so that upgrades do consistently make a weapon "one tier better".

Id rather they buff the benefit of upgrading. Weapons that only get like 10-15% damage increase should be buffed, more ammo per upgrade to compensate the weight increase, better block and parry effectiveness for melee weapons, wider ground fire for firebug weapons, maybe a minor increase in fire rate and mag size on top of the damage upgrade for automatic weapons, etc...

Also, I think now is the perfect time to make the survivalists weight bonus into a passive.
