[COLOR=darkred]Offensive material
The following is a list of some things that MAY be considered "offensive" by the moderators and the team. This is NOT an exclusive list and it does depend very much on context.

Crossing the line into "offensive" territory is likely to get you asked to change your name, sig or avatar or to withdraw/delete posts. This will be done politely by the moderators. If you refuse to comply further action WILL be taken once started, ultimately leading to banning from the forums.

A key point: please attempt to use your brains. What is mild humour to you may well be deeply offensive to others. While we have no intention of acting as politically-correct "thought police", we are on the lookout for those things that can cause offense and, in some cases, are actually still illegal in some jurisdictions.
  1. Names recalling notorious war criminals or personalities.
  2. Names recalling atrocities and war crimes in general, or units with particularly odious histories.
  3. Use of obscenities and expletives.
  4. Blatant racism, mysogynism or many other "ism"s.
  5. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Nazism or Fascism; this does not include pics of soldiers who happen to have such symbols on their uniform, unless we feel this has been done to provoke. Please note that many Nazi symbols (including the Swastika) are still illegal in Germany and other countries and considered deeply offensive by many Europeans.
  6. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Stalinism.
  7. On both the previous two, the moderators' views on the intention and impact of use of such symbols will be final - not yours. Please be understanding if you are advised to change something.
  8. In general, if a sig/avatar represents your allegiances in-game and is clearly "in part", it is likely to be fine; if the moderators feel you are trying to demonstrate unpalatable political allegiances, or to use it in an attempt to ridicule or provoke others you WILL be asked to change it. RO is NOT the place to make any extremist political statements of any kind.

Examples:
So people get the idea, some examples that would be considered offensive, numbered as above:
  1. "Hitler", "Beria"
  2. "NKVD Blocking Detachment", "Einsatzgruppen"
  3. This one should be pretty obvious...
  4. So should this - and it includes calling all Germans "Nazis" and all Soviets/Russians "Commies". It got boring 50 years ago, so stop it.
  5. Use of swastikas, fasces, SS-runes and so on for the Axis.
  6. There is actually very little overt symbolism from the Stalinist era; the hammer-and-sickle isn't offensive per se.

A simple rule-of-thumb: many Europeans find Nazi symbolism of any sort offensive; many Americans still find Soviet symbolism offensive. Engage your brain before using.

Final Note: this is NOT open to debate, so please do NOT start whining and moaning if a moderator asks you to change something. They will advise at first, giving reasons, then, if you take no notice, they will step up the pressure through to banning.

  • What We Are Up To - A Less Civilized Arsenal

For those of you who have not yet read our announcement on Paid Weapon DLC, please take a moment to do so now. This is a serious topic for all of us, and we want to make sure everyone has all the facts before joining the conversation.

    Hello everyone!

The shared content list is about to grow by two new weapons, the Rhinos and the Ion Thruster. When one merc on a mission owns a weapon on the shared content list, it is made available to other mercenaries in the field with you while you continue to work together to combat the Zeds! If no mercenaries own this content, it will not show up in the on-site procurement pod for purchase.

First up is the Rhino’s, bringing their new fragmentation rounds to play for Gunslingers. Zeds downrange will not know what hit them once these frag rounds are expelled out the other side of the recently impacted Zed into the horde behind. Be sure to carry two of these Tier 3 weapons for more fragmentation fun, as these rounds will ricochet around the environment as well!

Joining the Rhino’s is the Tier 5 Ion Thruster, a less civilized weapon for the brutal mob you may find in front of you. Have you ever wondered what happens if you superheat a retractable blade? So did the Lab Coats. They found a way to store kinetic energy taken from impacts as heat energy in the blade itself which can then be unleashed back at those, and I quote the Lab Coats here “evil watermelons they won’t stop throwing at us”. Cuts through ‘em like butter and lights what it doesn’t cut on fire (Do a reload check to execute a special attack at full power)!

And don’t worry, that isn’t all the Lab Coats have been up to! A new division, calling themselves the “Horzine Research Group”, HRG for short, has some new experimental weapons coming your way as well. We will have more on these next week, so stay tuned!
Pretty, what do we blow up first? - Myn Donos

So is the Ion Thruster a survivalist weapon or a berserker weapon?

Regardless of my previous comment regarding the cost of said weapons... I have to admit I'm stupidly hyped for them!

The Rhino is definitely a welcomed addition to the GS arsenal...which is definitely lacking, mostly in versatility (a damn shame for one of the coolest perk in the game!). I hope it does add some sprinkles of creativity, which seems to be the case. I hope it won't be overpowered with those rounds though!

A bit more skeptical about the Ion Thruster. Mostly because I think the zerk definitely has more than enough weapons already. Plus how would a retractable blade do as much (if not more) damage than a battleaxe the size of a car? But I guess we'll have to see how it behave in-game... Still waiting for the weapon that will make me drop my pulverizer.

Man, I'm so excited for this pack. But not for the weapons already announced. The Berserker already has a large variety of different weapons, and the gunslinger can already have crazy combinations of different pistols. What I am looking forward to is a weapon added for the Sharpshooter that will be as creative as these two! Can't wait. I always bought every dlc pack in the first Killing Floor because of just how cool the weapons were.

Will the Ion Thruster be for the Berserker and Firebug?

So, for the Berserker, and it seemed to me that all the futuristic weapons refers to the Survivalist. However not, there's Helios Rifle, Microwave Gun, Railgun, and all Field Medic's weapons. Whatever.

I'd rather take the Rhino(s) to Tier 5 weapons. Firstly, it looks cool. Secondly, there is an optical sight that doesn't have .500 Magnum. Thirdly, it uses fragmentation rounds that can ricochet. So that's obviously.

Then again, Tier 5 weapons are not mandatory. They are a welcomed addition, but they can surely take their time with it.

I'd rather have more choices for T1 tbh.

(Also also : some T3/T4 weapons are already ludicrously powerful and fun... You don't need to save the crazy ideas for the T5s ! )

As i wrote in another thread, i don't like the red dot on the revolver, it's so fragile in real life that in makes me cringe a bit. The ion thing looks like a partially disassembled replica of a light saber, not my jam. I'm more for proper weapons (XM556 microgun, spas 15, HK51, Inkunzi PAW, Barrett MRAD...).

I'm wondering if the Rhino is really going to be that effective for us gunslingers, since it has those frag rounds that probably don't headshot too well. The way I see it, the gunslinger perk is all about headshots, so things like the firebug pistols (can't remember their name atm) that are more area-of-effect weapons don't do so well in the gunslinger arsenal.

They could make one pellet always fly dead center.
