Default Requesting a Modding-Forum

I think we should have a Mod-Forum, for upcoming Mods. Even if there aren't m/any mods around atm, I still think it would good.

I totally agree... I and Ivan (leader of Hollow Moon) were discussing about modding for Ostfront and maybe Hollow Moon will be a Ostfront mod aswell...

Ostfront needs a public mod forum and a mod forum which are for beginning modders which need a forum to start on (not accessible by non-mod-developers)!

If this is done a solid modding base is complete and Ostfront will attract modders like fromage attracts mice!

maybe agood idea for release, but i don;t think people will plan on making mods for RO unless it's more sucessful than DoD.
Most people don't wnat to make a mod that there isn't enough players for.

Maybe ex-UT2003/UT2004 mods which don't want to recreate maps to a completely different engine?
And those how want to make use of the added features of the adapted UE2.5 engine?

Or those who'd like to create a WW1 mod with Ostfront gameplay?
Who knows?

I will see about getting a "modding/mutator" section added to the game editing area.

I thought the Africa Corp idea was a brilliant one. As advanced and incredibly fun as tank combat has become, an armor oriented mod like that could be some good stuff. The sparce environments would also lend themselves to very very large maps.

I'd say the best options for the engine right now would be:

1. WWI
2. Korean War
3. Afrika Korps

Hope we get some great mods for all three...

Yes. Someone can also port them and make a Tattooine map.

I'd add a few...

1. The Winter War - Finns vs Soviets
2. Spanish Civil War
3. Soviet-Polish war of 1920
4. The Revolution (an excuse to get the Yanks and Brits in!!)

And purely as an aside - why is it called a "Civil" war? The fighting in Spain was anything but Civil with over a million people killed - it was appalling slaughter. Hardly "civil"... rhetorical question - does NOT require an answer!

I totally disagree about it being 'non accessible to non-mod-developers'. Beginning modders are only beginner for so long, and I personally don't want to prevent anyone's mod idea from getting help ;]

I think a mod forum here is good, but it would probably be better for discussing the hows and wheres..

I'll also add in some other mod ideas.. and I want to make sure that people keep in mind that a mod doesn't always mean a total-conversion!

- Additional Countries (with voice packs, uniforms, and where relevent, weapons): Romainians, Spanish, Finns, etc.. are good examples.
- additional unit types, tanks, uniforms, and of course weapons.

As for additional theatres, the Japanese/Russian war would be good ;]
Could also introduce many hypothetical operations (US/British push into USSR, for example).

True, once/if someone gets something started, they can make a private forum on their own site, how else could you separate the public from the "insiders" on this forum??

The potential for AT guns vs Tanks in a NA mod is tantilizing.

Personally I want to finally be able to used a Garand and Thompson that fire like they're "supposed" to. Besides, normandy is pretty (what better reason to attack than that the scenery is good! ).
