Read it and weep, either out of joy or sadness:

You know what I'm gonna do the day it comes out? Jump in my flying car and celebrate my country winning the world cup of football.

From what I understand there has been only 3 engine changes, although they have at times taken those engines and completly redone major sections of them, leading people to believer there has been more "changes" while in fact the core engine has remained the same.

On this same point I have been led to understand they are still using the HEAVILY HEAVILY HEAVILY modified version of UE 2.5. But they have replaced the physics, the rendering system, and a whole lot of other things. But at the core it is still UE 2.5

there's a lot that's finished. All the guns are finished. Most of the creatures are finished...we're just basically pulling it all together and trying to make it fun.
LOL - this should definitely be interesting...

I wonder if the programmers are still the original ones, but are now hollow shells of men (probably no women, I'm guessing) who have spent the last 10 years of their life working on a progressively outdated project. They refuse to read the newspapers, or the magazines, or even watch TV as they see the world around them change into something they no longer recognize. They kids these days, they say to each other, they don't appreciate quality like they used to. We made millions blowing up cops who looked like pigs. Doesn't anyone get that joke anymore--I mean, the pigs were pigs! Ahahahahhahahaaha...(they all drink another swig of Tab)...

It was Quake1 engine, then unreal engine(like the 2001 vid) now its an In-house engine according to 3drealms, they said this to deny the rumors they were using the DOOM3 engine, infact it was "doom3-like" or something, but developed in-house.

So thats 3.

I hope, when they finally release it, that its not another 'daikatana'. I liked duke 3d too much. Anyone played the original duke nukem side scrolling shooter? Priceless gameplay.

And I was hoping for it to hit the decade in development mark.

First, I just wanted to write "lol".

And, you know what?
The day that DNF is released will be the day when Hell freezes over and all angels in heaven will lose virginity. Or something like that.

My guess is that DNF will just be using the good, old D3D-engine and feature a bunch of new maps, that's all, and 3dRealms will have the laugh of the millennium at all those pissed off customers. (CoD2, anyone? *g*)
