Hmmm I just saw the youtube video.

If they release partial source code for modification, which has never happened for any mainstream RTS as far as I know, this would be a kick *** game with some heavily realistic mods.

Too bad. The engine is damn good.

I dont know, I dont think it looks half bad. Its definantly nothing like blitzkrieg 2 (Oh god I played the demo, I dont even know how it sold), I think it looks more like a sudden strike maybe with slightly less tactics (yes you could use tactics to great success in sudden strike).

It might not be the most realistic (Remember, Im the Combat Mission guy, so I like my ultra-realism), but with some decent graphics and a little gameplay like sudden strike, it would be some off-beat fun, especially multiplayer.

Though in the later part of that video, when the flakpanzer (I think thats what it is, not sure of full designation, but the single barrelled tank that shot in rapid fire) was chasing the american infantry around the bocage and hay stacks, I could only think of ants running mixed with them yelling like monty python and the holy grail.

ATTACK!!TANK!TANK!RUNAWAY,RUNAWAY.ATTACK!TANK!RUNA WAY! QUICK BEHIND THE HAYBARREL, WERE SAFE.AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

Using Wirbelwinds against masses of infantry must be one of the most disgusting things a soldier has ever seen.

I wonder if there are any written accounts(books etc) of wirbelwinds being used as infantry support!

If I was in a Wiberlwind and I knew I had some extra rounds that I could spare, I would definantly fire into masses of infantry. 4 barrels of 20mm (explosive rounds?) would be devastating against grouped infantry. Of course the aftermath would probably one of the most disgusting things youve ever seen.

I dont think that was a Wiberlwind though, It only had a single barrel

No kidding, plus 20mm must tear through ANYTHING out there. Entrenched positions? Yeah, right!

Also, it has a bow-mg. Not just quad 20mm.

I wonder why the Gerries didn't install their MG131(.50cal MG for airplanes and HMG for infantry) on tanks, I think all other nations had heavy MGs on AFVs.

Like I said before, Dawn of War set in WWII. Sure the engine is more capable, but what I saw of the gameplay reeks. Then again, 14 months of 60 hour weeks testing DoW and Winter Assault may have burned me out on the entire concept.

Yeah, I wasn't commenting on the video, I didn't remember what it was.

Ostwind has a single 3.7cm auto cannon, btw.
