Now in RO running to another player is like to running to wall. There should be a way to move another player away from doorways or corridors. In my opinion it could be automatically so that if you go through tight doorway another player should be unbalanced for a while.

This should only be of concern for mappers, as it's only important for spawn areas to have at least two exit points (and no, a double door doesn't work, as a single person can still block it). If people block doors in combat areas, well, that's bad luck, but you can be sure the enemy will help you with the blocking problem.

This drives me nuts although I understand why some do at times. But if you must shoot when no one is there at least turn around to see if someone is behind you. I don't know how many times I've been killed like this.

What about including a "shove" action for dealing with people who block doorways? Enemy Territory did that and you almost never have the problem of doorway blockage.
You walk up to the guy blocking the doorway and you press enter on him, you hear a grunt and then the blocker stumbles forward (if you want to include a neat animation with it) and then you can move past him. |

What about shoving people by walking at them? Making them fall aswell? ![]() That would be better IMO, then you can also "walk-over" or push that stinky Russian at the cliff edge...

lol a "shoving" feature would be horribly abused. Just imagine a guy leaning around corner doing a good job of picking off enemies, only to be shoved out into the open by a lamer to then be riddled with many a happy enemy's bullet. In one of the early versions of a HL1 mod called Fire Arms, you could "push" teammates out of the way by shooting them with any gun (obviously with FF off). And it worked for a while to stop door blockers (though I don't think that was the intent of the devs, more likely left over code that they hadn't bothered to fix/change), till lamers realized it was much more fun to shoot teammates off cliffs and buildings than to simply block a doorway. I hate doorway blockers too, but a shoving feature would just lead to abuse and you have a much bigger problem then simply not being able to go through a door. I'd bet shoving teammates into grenades would be the next "big thing" for lamers to do in RO if shoving was added.

How about like running up to the person (sprinting) and running in to them moves them? It would also work in CQB because if you happened upon an enemy you could push or kick them and then shoot them while they're disoriented..... or not....

Well in Enemy Territory where the "shoving" command is used you dont see that many people abusing it as much as you would think. But if that is still a concern you could allways add it so you can only push them when they are within a certain distance of the spawn point, or you could add little tags in the map editor in each doorway so you can only push someone when they are in a door.
Otherwise you could just add a "Shove" On/Off setting when setting up a server and let the audience decide, if no one is using it a lot or if it is abused you can still get rid of it, but if it works out you can leave it in. I think some other controversal ideas should be handled like that, you cant really see how everyone would use or abuse it untill its there. Just make it an option when setting up a server and if its abused most of the servers will have it turned off and then it can be removed next patch. But if its successful it can be fully implemented or left as a decision. |

There's already ways to remove players from doorways coded into the game. All you have to do is press 't' or 'y' and say, "Can I please get by [username]?" If that doesn't work, press scroll lock and talk into your mic and ask the same question. If that doesn't work, you either have a bad teamplayer or a half-way retarded guy infront of you. In either case, I'd suggest getting away from him and finding a new enterance or waiting a few seconds for him to die.

You can always make it so you can simply squeeze past other players without moving them. That would be like, encountering another player makes you stop, and if you keep pressing forward, your character slips through his hitbox and past him. That's just a quick and dirty fix, now. To make it look better, there could be an animation where you both turn sideways and you slip past him.
