Default Who's with me on this idea I just had?

I would really like to explore with the community the following server settings that are a mix between Realism and Classic. These settings are named:

Refined ®ealism

The "core" settings are (v2.0):
  1. Base settings from Realism
  2. Weapon and class progression bonuses disabled
  3. Classic load out
  4. Classic weapon handling

Imo, these settings would result in a game mode that is totally unexplored, yet should be interesting to a group of people that are currently not 100% satisfied by what the standard modes offer.

A server running the above mode would be labeled 'Custom' but remain 'ranked'.

As I am (currently) not a server admin, I pose the following questions to the community:
  1. Are there any servers that are already running these settings?
  2. Are any server admins prepared to give these settings a try?
  3. Is TWI prepared to use these settings on one of their servers, be it in the base game or in the beta?
  4. Failing all of the above, is anyone interested in renting a server with a group of people to introduce these settings?

There are other settings that I would like to see, but for the sake of keeping the 'definition' of this new "mode" clean, I did not include them. Here is a list of additional settings I would like to see used with the new mode, "Non-Core":
  • Spawn on SL off (surprisingly this apparently unranks the server, TWI can you please change that?)
  • Personal Deathmessages only, with a delay of 10 secs or more
  • Teammate's names visible up close only
  • Peripheral indicators disabled (until they are improved more by TWI)
  • Hardcore hitbox (includes no bandaging)

Several of the Australian servers have been running this for some time. I'm actually surprised that US servers seem not to have picked up on it.

DDE Beta, those were the days!
It didn't get much better than that gameplay wise.

Everyone LVL 0, no MKb42s in sight, good memories.

The settings on the last test with the RS testers were glorious. Classic running speed with Shift zoom and Classic loadouts I believe. That was really great imho.

Dammit I didn't join the last one because I was working on my map.

Isn't it possible to have the classic weapon handling as well with these settings or is that part of classic loadout/the game mode it's self?

I think using the Classic weapon handling also entails using the Classic zoom, which I cannot support. Maybe someone can confirm that?

(stop rubbing it in please for those that missed it :P)

Also that sounds awesome then, so Proud God if you support classic weapon handling since it doesn't include zoom I would put that in the OP.

More sway as well.

Classic weapons handling is a must for me to play on any server, Classic or Custom. Realism's combat lethality at range is far too high, snap-shooting at medium and close range is far too easy.

I agree. In Realism it's just too easy to make "one shot, one kill". And in this "Classic weapons handling" thing, does it include being unabled to go into ironshigts straight from sprint? That's another thing that bothers me in Realism.

Classic weapon handling:
- takes longer to get to ads
- if you ran you must stop first to get to ads
- level of stamina has great effect on weapon sway
- more sway in general
- avatar stance has a great effect on weapon sway
