My friends and I like to play in squads and we usually have at least 6 people in the squad that actually work together. The problem is we don't know which fireteam we are on. We can see the fire team of each other but not each individual self. I propose that when you press the tactical menu and see the squad list on the side that each name should have which fire team they are assigned to.
Example: Bob SL1 Mr. Black FT1 Mr. Blue FT2 Mr. White FT3 Last edited by danh; 08-06-2012 at 12:43 PM. |

Seems legit.

I'd like to see this as well. Currently it's just too difficult to tell which fireteam you're on, and it would be a useful way to manage your squad. Right now the only reliable way to let someone know what fireteam they're on is to have someone else tell them. Unless I'm missing something.

Hold T, look at the right of the screen. Spot all your squad members and your Squad leader with Name(FTx) at the end.

I'd just like a total redo of the squad system and the UI of it in the role selection screen.

Yes. But you don't know which ft you are in.

Squad menu is ridiculous. It keeps shifting when I want to select my position in the squad.

+1 for redoing UI of spawn/role/squad selection screens.

It needs to be easier to identify and give more incentive to operate as a squad.

It is fun to operate in a squad but it is really hard to micromanage a squad when different people are in your squad each game. It's much easier to just identify them as fire team 1, fire team 2, and fire team 3.

It would be better if they disposed of the role selection screen altogether and only allowed players to choose their role from the squad selection one.

The squad menu is still buggy. It shifts up and down over and over as you try to join a squad.

This isn't a bad idea. A lot of new players don't even know how to select their squad, I certainly didn't in the first week or so playing. Of course, the squad menu would first have to work properly before this could happen.

Yeah, the UI is buggy atm. It also needs to be clear who's in your squad.
For extra squad-play, I think we need more ambient voice-overs, like if you're hanging out with a friendly for more than 3 seconds, then they start to move a certain distance away from you, they should say "Move up" or "Moving out" or something along those lines to indicate to the rest of their squad that they're moving, this way people will move together more often. Frequently I find myself with a friendly, helping them along by giving fire support only to soon find out that they've sprinted off and I'm on my own.

1. Fix squad menu so it doesn't shift around 2. Make fire teams more clear 3. Squad chat should not be 'p'! This makes everyone favor team chat by default. 4. Emphasize that squad leaders should be leading their squads. Perhaps squad leaders should earn +1 pt when they protect their squad members. It only counts once though so having two squad members doesn't mean you get +2. |

Well players already gain points by performing actions (Killing / Capturing objectives) when being near their Squad Leader (Within 20 metres or so). So there's a slight incentive there already, although it is only 2+ points.
But indeed, SL's need somthing to make themselves want to play on a squad level. |

I agree with OP so much! Switching fireteams was very painful, but now that it doesn't jump back to the top and totaly bug out it should be easier.
Its really nice to see that problems and bugs are beeing fixed.

I have to agree. I don't like the metagame the devs have in the squad choice menu. Testing my scroll down skills before another player can join is a weird way to make a game. How the hell did this bug get through the new Q&A? When can we expect a fix? I hope we don't have to wait until the Pacific expansion is released.
As to Fireteams, yes, please update the UI so that we know which fireteam we are in. |

I think it still bugs out at the beginning of the game.
