Default New content, paid DLC maybe?

I was just thinking about this, maybe it's too much to ask for these days, to get free content updates, would it really hurt people that bad to shell out 10$ or maybe even 20$ if the content is worth it?

Just saying that I would GLADLY pay for new content, REAL content, not just maps, but new vehicles, weapons, class models etc.

Just about every developer these days take money for their DLC, and in my mind it's pretty fair, it takes effort to make content.

What are you guys thoughts on this?

Nope.

I'll never pay more for the Red Orchestra serie. Moreover, I don't think money will make TWI work faster or better. TWI devs are known to keep alive their games with new free content, personally this is why I'm still here on this forum.

No, TWI is against charging for gameplay changing DLC, and I'm not going to support the idea. They are a small dev team, so charging for the DLC isn't going to make them work any faster on new content. Rising Storm is being made by a different dev team, and that might be charged content. Maybe that's what you're looking for.

I wouldn't mind to pay for a full addon but no small dlc packages and not before we got some more free content. Also there are enough people already who cry that they paid 20€ for RO2

As far as I can tell, TWI intends to have paid DLC in the form of full expansion packs. Rising storm may or may not be paid, of course plenty of that money would go to the mod team.

Paid DLC will just devide the small community even further.

While I wouldn't mind paying for some content TWI has stated all along that the content updates would be free. Like was stated before Rising storm should be a paid expansion (but really a stand alone game). I am pretty sure TWI will be publishing that game so they will make some money off of it as well.

While I share the OP's feeling that TWI deserves all the money they can get.I think they have done rather well for themselves already being a small company they do not have near the overhead as other developers. Also publishing their own games really helps with their proceeds as well.Having the free Unreal engine also helped cut down on their overhead.

HoS will also sell way into the future as the game improves and more people feel that they need something different in the fps genre. As more and more fps's are following the same path game play wise I can see HoS appeal to grow as time goes on. Unlike console or other big name developers TW makes their games as a long term project. Not just caring about the first few months of sales and a couple shallow paid DLC's.

Besides TWI has been well known to go against the grain not following what is the normal for developers today.I also think this will pay off for them in the long term when money continues to role in well into the future.

I don't like DLC that splits the playerbase or gives unfair advantages to players who purchase the DLC. I don't mind cosmetic DLC though that doesn't tamper with the way the game plays (I still wouldn't buy it though)

“So Call of Duty’s a perfect example of a group that does very lazy DLC. They give you a map pack, and now they’ve segmented you away from a massive amount of people who have the game. So, at best, I heard they sold to 30 percent of their playerbase. That means you can’t play with 70 percent of people who also have that game. And if you look at that in a corporate situation, they’re gonna be like ‘Yeah, we sold to 30 percent of our install base! That’s fantastic!’ They don’t give a **** about the player.”

No.

I wont pay a cent for a DLC. There is to much that has to be fixed in the game first. A lot of new feature and fixes. I see no point to pay for something that I rarely play.

Splitting the game up with Map expansion's will lower the player count.

Could be weapon or vehicle packs, you pay for the DLC and you get access to it, but if you die, others on the battlefield can pick it up and use it also.

This way all can play together, but if you want your hands in the cookie jar, you have to split a few bucks.

I know people are saying TWI have made cash, but their content output is evident they surely could use more financial help to get the wheels spinning.

Even hiring 1 other modeler or coder or anything costs a lot of money.

In the end I'm just desperate for new content, it's like drugs, you get your daily dose, but then you get tolerance, and you need a stronger dose to make do, this is what is happening to me and this game.

I will be fine if they add some visual "packs" as DLC like in KF.

I am all for paying them a very small amount of cash for their efforts.

And although on one hand I can not wait for the expansions, I also dread the splitting they will do to our already small community.

It's easy to get around that, make maps free but content cost.

You pay $10 and you unlock weapons and maybe even a new vehicle to use on map.

As far as vehicles others wouldn't be able to use it, but weapons they could pick off your dead body.

This isn't that game.

If you really want to pay for what will probably be free content, then they should have the content updates free with an option to donate up to $5 if you really like it.

At least it wouldn't split the community.

I don't have a problem with paying for DLC, except for the problem of splitting the community.

So any cosmetic DLC is fine by me.

Exception would be full TCs like Rising Storm.

Don't you think that if they could immediately fix what's not working optimally that they would? The technical problems and new content aren't delayed due to a lack of $5; they have money. Its problem solving and it takes time.

As for content, we have a lot of new maps already in public: go get them and help test them. Every player has the game editor and there are loads of free modeling and texturing tools. We have everything we need to create new weapons, vehicles, maps, code, and mods.

Is everybody happy with the free content we've already had (from TWI)....one new map
The answer is...no they're not
How would we feel if we'ed had to pay for it....
The answer is....... a lot more unhappy people, who might have walked away.

Correction, every player with a 64 bit OS.

Also, no thanks to the OP.
