From the video it seems like that is the route they are going.

INS was going places until Argy left, it was pretty much a disaster after that. Not that any of it was peaches and cream.

Jer was okay at best but didn't really seem to have the chops to head it in the right direction. I'll stay slightly optimistic about INS2.

Though when Jeremy left it went completely downhill. The goal went to making an "immersible experience" which is extremely vague. Though it looks like that is the approach INS2 is going.

Default Insurgency 2 Kickstarter

Have you seen the New Kickstarter for Insurgency 2? If you haven't, you should go check it out!

They need a little help!

Looks like they revised it a little. Only six maps? No thanks. I'll stick to Battlefield 3 Hardcore, which is essentially what this will be.

I'll save my money for Ground Branch, assuming they do another Kickstarter or similar.

Wow, i've never seen a more generic looking MMS, complete with fast twitchy gameplay, recoiless auto spam guns, and bloody weapon unlocks, just what the world needed even more of!

It is a shame. Feels very much like RO1 to RO2.

Christ you guys are haters. RO2 is ****ing awesome and none of you guys play it. Now we have another old favorite getting a revamp and you all *****. Sure its not the next gen fps but who ****ing cares, INS was always fun, and there's no goddam alternatives.

RO2 is essentially dead for me; I can't find any servers that don't lag even if I wanted to. I won't go into the gameplay issues and bugs, but I really don't care for RO2.

As for INS2, it looks like a watered down INS. They could have tried something different with asymmetrical gameplay, or at least made more large open maps. Add on a boring unlock system, no class restrictions, linear maps this game is essentially BF3 Close Quarters with worse graphics.

To top it off, the Kickstarter looks a bit suspect. It looks like they had the game done and on track but are going for a quick money grab with the promise of updating the graphics a bit.

Your money. If they get the funding they need, good on them. Even if they do reach their goals, I doubt I will have much interest in the game. Personally I'd rather save my money for Ground Branch or even throw more money at Takedown.

Insurgency 2 Gameplay Video - Rock, Paper Shotgun Exclusive on Vimeo

8 mins of gameplay.

Not my cup of tea really. Incoming bullets sound good though.

Edit: Lol'd at the AK with a laser attachment.

I watched 4 minutes before giving up. I think I saw maybe three different routes down the map, and not a single instance of leaning. Maybe I overlooked but meh.

Sure, to each their own, but I get a feeling everyone is getting so critical that they're missing out on fun.

Unfortunately top tier studios abandoned originality long ago and its harder for the little guys to compete than it used to be. So with that in mind I'll live with whatever RO2 mistakes are still there because overall the game is awesome. Similar for INS, its not a grand scope, but I think the idea of fast paced tactical is a good one. It's a less forgiving CS essentially. The gameplay was in tact years ago so I don't see how asking for money for visual fidelity is a cash grab. In fact it makes me more confident in the game. They've got the most important stuff down and now they wanna compete in the market by making it pretty. Sounds great to me.

While I do like that they have the base work done, it seems like they had the intention of releasing the game normally until the video game Kickstarter boom occurred. Personally I don't have a problem with this, but it is worth pointing out.

Had they promised more realism, threw out the unlocks, and tried to do something interesting with the poor equipped insurgents VS advanced military theme I would have pledged myself. At this point I'll wait and see how it comes along.

But why would you even consider having a problem with this? Either way you'd be paying for the game. Option 1 (no KS) you get game as they've completed it so far. Option 2 (KS), if goal is met, you get game with additional feature(s) because of funding. What's the downside I'm missing?

More realism would be changing what INS has been which is more or less (less) the same sweet spot between realism and arcade as RO. I agree with everything else.

Nope, not missing out on any "fun", because to me a game like this simply isen't fun, same goes for Ro2.

There are games that are fun to you, though, are there not? Which ones meet your exacting criteria? I'm asking, because maybe there's something I don't know of and it would be worth trying.
