They didn't even use the name; I'm sure they considered licensing to be something they didn't need to worry about.

KSG did get a name change, though. I wonder if that was to reflect the detachable magazine changes, to avoid unrealistically portraying a real weapon but make a fictional one instead, or if it was a licensing issue avoidance move?

I doubt any licensing was needed, what with a different name, history etc while it's most certainly a nod it is different enough to not be considered using the IP of (I think it's still BBC)

As for the cost? Something special for a little more. Nothing wrong with that.
Least it isn't like Tf2's Barly-Seeable Crappy 100$ Something special for a special someone Ring.

Well the name is immaterial, its the use of someones image thats important. For example BT's 118 118 adverts led to them being sued because the guys in the ad looked very similar to 2 British athletes with the distinctive mullet and moustache.
To put in in perspective, if I create a new charatcer that looks like this:

Then call him Night Warrior, I am not going to get away with it

Harold Lott has the same look, the same clothes, and even the same gestures (in the advert), and it even says loadsofmoney in the background too. It is clearly the Harry Enfield character, to the point I doubt any arguement that it is a parody or a "nod" wouldn't hold water.

I ofc don't know law, but based on what little knowldge I do have I would assume TWI would have had to pay for the rights to use Harry Enfields image, hence the price tag.

For not knowing law, the analysis is spot on. But we donīt really know if they paid or not.

Batman is a presently popular main character of a long running series owned by a huge corporation, including a big upcoming film.
A side character from an 80s show in another country is a different scale of magnitude, I imagine the whole bit could have easily gone right under the radar if they were a little more subtle about it.

When I made my previous comment, I hadn't seen the trailer for loadsamoney guy. That, along with charging high dollar for him and him alone, it's not so subtle. Perhaps it was wise to handle it properly legally, and it seems more probable now that TWI did.

i don't see why it's an issue to some people that the harry lottfield / enlott character costs more than the usual dlc. most people aren't even the targetted audience. while i do get the joke and surely will enjoy seeing other folks on the servers run arround with him, my first thought on the dlc was "guess who's not jumping into this bloke's pants." the dlcs are still highly optional and cosmetic. you can play the game without buying even one character pack and still have all the additional maps and weapons. that's value for money. the summer content update is another thing i wouldn't consider the act of a greedy company that rips off it's fans (free hellride map + ijc weapons + freakshow zeds = happy customers).

plus i find it very ironic that people who want a dlc character to get more fun out of shouting "money money money!" in the game complain about it's lunch-moneysque price tag.

A little bit extra dollar for a little bit more fun, don't see too much wrong here.
Also consider TWI's support for the game through the last 3~4 years and the cheap dlcs.

As posted by the staff, Loadsamoney is in part a experiment for premium characters (aka the extra cost equals particle effects, use of extra voice lines [ala Ash], and other cosmetics), so depending on how well Loadsadosh goes we may see more 'fancy' characters, or heck, this could be a way for them to reoffer some of the DLC chars in future even (I can already picture Ash coming at a similar price as Loadsamoney, because of her unique voice track)

I hope they make a rejected or hated specimen or a friendly one that has a unique voice lines, custom melee a.k.a hands, and a cosmetic effect for growls and ****. Would be nice to see atleast a specimen join the fight on our side.
