Default One Ruins The Game For All

I started a solo suicidal game today, my first game of the day, the server filled up quite quickly and we completed several waves and made our way to the trader. I was recording the game for someone else.

A level 6 zerker called Gagulka started to weld doors in front of me so I had an idea what he was going to do, see for yourself:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQwmk6KnAuc

Devs, this is not right, I only play pubs and sometimes the server has no kick option so all it takes is 1 idiot to ruin the game for 5 other players.

I really despise these type of people who think it's fun to ruin other peoples games.

I'd appreciate it if you could make this impossible to do during trader time, I am aware of the anti-blocker mutator but some servers do not use it and others have no kick option so for those of us that play pubs for the majority of our games we have no option but to leave the server if an idiot like this decides he's going to ruin the game for everyone.

Well, player collisions during trader time should be off by default without necessity to use any mods. But they aren't. And the problem you've described occurs from the release of the game. No sign of it getting taken care of in the near future.

It's unfortunate that people like this feel the need to ruin fun times for people. Games are meant to be played and enjoyed, but there's always those few who take the fun and enjoyment out of gaming.

True that. Griefers and trolls have existed since the beginning of video game time. The best you can do is leave the game, reacting to them will only generate lulz and encourage them to troll even more

I admit that ive griefed a bit before, but it would usally be closing the door in the london basement, and welding it to 5% (enough so that anyone could easily unweld it) Also, ive done the thing where you set your amount of "give away" money, to 5 pounds. But the one thing I never do, even if Im mad at the team, is block. Its just too easy to do, and its not fair or funny.

Anyhow, I dont get why TWI hasnt made the "antiblock" mod a permanent or required mod for all servers.

I'm not sure why the video has been posted twice, I only copied one link

That's the point, why should I or anyone else be 'forced' to leave the server because 1 player thinks it's fun to ruin the game?

Hopefully the devs will sort this out and make player collision impossible during trader time to stop these fools.

In the server list, mark a server with left click then look down left for the server details. Look for antiblock mutator. It´s usually there if the server has it installed.

Thanks, I know about the mutator but I only play suicidal and HoE and I'm limited to number of servers, sometimes I can start a solo game and it fills up quickly but other times I'll be playing alone for the entire game, depends on the time of night or if it's a weekend.

I did find him though and it looks like he's a regular griefer so I've reported him for player misconduct:

Totally understandable. I usually play on hard and suicidal (only reason for hard, is becuase my comando is lvl 2 and my demo/FB/support are lvl 3's) because theres a good number of them, and players seem to know what their doing. As for servers with HoE, those servers are a shot in the dark, when it comes to finding them. And usually when I find them, their full.

The thing I like to do in situations like that is to bust my butt, and do anything necessary to be successful. There's no better way to demoralize a troll than by showing him that you can complete the wave despite his efforts.

Other than that, just leave immediately. It's a shame that some people get their jollies doing this kind of stuff, but there's no reason for you to stay there and make his attempts worthwhile. There'll always be another game.

I can't understand why a server admin wouldn't use anti-block, or at the very least, enable vote-kicking. At least that way the pubs have some way of preventing this. At least, that's my line of reasoning for having them enabled.

*shrug*

TWI should add AntiBlocker to the vanilla game imo. Or at least set kick-voting enabled by default.

I remember I played a funny HoE game - there was a trader-blocking zerk, me as a medic, and a nice zerk that I kept healing. The griefer blocked trader entrance every wave. We, in turn, raged fleshies and scrakes in his face from the distance whenever there was an occasion. We managed to finish the game without dying, he finally ragequitted at wave 10, after one of the fleshpound gangbangs.

Point is, griefing is a two-edged knife. You could weld him in the darkness from the both sides. One of you could stand in the corridor and trap him between himself and the closed trader door after the wave begins. The list goes on and on.

I'm not that type of player to be honest and in my opinion I think that just turns more players into griefers, the old saying "If you can't beat them, join them" is not my style of play.

It's like friendly fire servers, one player opens fire on another, that player doesn't like it so returns fire and hits someone else, before you know what's happened half the server is a TDM game playing it like DM.

I've been a gamer for a long time and I've never felt the need to grief another player, annoying people for my own enjoyment does not appeal to me at all.

For real. People have been griefing in every online game ever since the beginning of time. There's really not much you can do other than find a new server.

As easy it is for them to troll you, it's as easy for you to troll them right back.

In cases like these when I know who's trolling I stop taking the game seriously and have a kick trying to troll them. Best part was that when the troll died and I started heckling him over in-game text chat, he started raging so hard and ragequit and made me laugh my butt off.

You troll me, I troll you. For every action there is a reaction.

I'm a nice guy by default.

To be honest, trolls aren't taking the game seriously anyway, so I'd think it's unlikely you are going to be able to annoy them in most cases.

So go to a different server? Its really not difficult. That or only play with friends or people you know, which nearly always entirely mitigates these issues. Sure the anti-blocker mutator isn't everywhere, but opt for going to any server that has it. Map the server is running shouldn't be your only reason for joining it. KF requires teamwork on the upper difficulties, sometimes that is difficult or impossible to achieve with a group of people you don't even know. Get a few friends and have one of them self host, its highly beneficial and extremely easy to do.

Also, what are you, 5?
"You've been recorded btw I'll sedn the video to the devs"

The guy is a troll, an obvious one at that. You realize that by giving him attention to his malicious acts, you're only doing exactly what he wanted you to do.

Well, if you can troll them back, I can imagine them raging as their game is being turned against them. Those who truly don't care are pro griefers, and they're the ones that aren't worth staying around for.

I haven't really came across griefing/trolling other than the one incident aforementioned, so my experience with this is somewhat limited.
