Default Bandage system & penalties [CLASSIC]

Well,

I have had many ideas up my sleeve, from myself aswell as from discussions with others. One of them is the bleedout system. I personally believe that being able to use bandage was a positive way in the beginning. The only problem was that it required some tweaking. While this wasn't in RO OST, it is in my view still an improvement and really adds more in terms of realism.

Straight to the point:
  • Bandaging is added to Classic mode. Bandage animation is set to 10 seconds.

  • Bandaging will obviously not heal the player. The damage that the player have sustained during the time without bandage is permanent (until you respawn that said)

Bleedout time increased and penalties changed:
The time it takes to bleed out and die is increased to 5 minutes. Effects have been added to simulate the players bloodloss.[/SIZE]

First minute: During the first minute without bandaging the wound, sway is slighly increased even more, and the stamina is lowered aswell over time.

Second minute: During the second minute without bandaging the wound, sway is increased even more, stamina is lowered even more aswell and the screen gets slightly blurred over time.

Third minute: During the third minute without bandaging the wound, the stamina reaches its minimum, sway is drastically increased. The screen gets more blurred, the colour slowly fades out aswell sound slowly fades out over time.

Last minute: During the last (and 4th) minute without bandaging the wound, the limping animation is activated. Stamina have reached its minimum, sway have increased to its maximum, screen is grey and heavily blurred, sounds are almost faded out. When minute five is reached the player will die; the screen will turn black and the sound will dissapear until respawn.

That's a very complex system with a lot of work, including animation, involved.

I'm quite supportive of the idea of re-introducing bandaging to Classic Mode, however. I was just discussing bandaging actually with a bunch of friends and clanmates yesterday, and all of us agreed that as long as bleed-out was made longer, bandaging would be a positive addition to Classic Mode.

In this case, even though bandaging wasn't in Ostfront, I think it adds something to the game that is in the Ostfront spirit. When hit, a player now has to react to the wound, whereas in the current game, a player can ignore any injury that doesn't result in death.

A FAR simpler system that would be much more practical to implement, imo, would be a 1 health/per second bleedout with Realism Mode bandaging times. This would give a player enough time to reach cover before bleeding out.

Voted Other.

Regarding the animation, I thought about this limping animation that sometimes gets activated when death message is delayed. More than that, there is for sure work to be done.

I agree with you, the bandage system have in my opinion always been a good idea but like other features (fire mg from the hip for example in vanilla) they just need to be tweaked. In my opinion its irrelevant if bandage was in OST or not simply because it adds more realism to the game. Like you said its in line with the ostfront spirit.

If it really has to be simplified, your idea is good. Another idea would be the one similar to the bandage system in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising which simply meant that you would slowly bleed out and the screen would become more blurred and grey as the time goes by.

overall I like your suggestion but players should be able to give bandages to others or bandage them (maybe only give away bandages cause I remember how using a medkit on a teammate in L4D sucked).
