Default This needs to get tripwires attention

Peoples servers keep dissappearing from server list for no reason and its 1 out of a million who actually gets it to show again, And you can clearly see a big problem here where i took screenshots from steam server browser and ingame server browser..

I think you should update your client and your server, everyone else has.
Browser is back to normal now that all the servers have updated.

I checked for updates no more than 15minutes ago, It is up to date.. It was working fine about one hour ago when i joined it through favorites with a few friends but now me or my friends cant see it.. "There are players on my server as we speak, but getting less and less because it is not visible anymore ingame"

And what comes to your screenshot you have 150 servers, Steam server browser has 300+

There was a client and server update. The in game browser will only show servers of the same version number as your game. The steam browser will show all servers regardless of version.

This afternoon all servers were showing. Signed on now half were gone again. This is a real smelly problem been around now too long. is there anything we can do to verify that the system we are running has all the correct version numbers etc. To be clear what was updated this afternoon and by who?

Ugh
Tks 2nah

I've updated the sever but it still wont show up. What command shows the server and game versions? People are able to connect with console and steam.

It was a snapshot,that just happened to be the number of servers on the list when the snap was taken,if i had taken it 10secs. later there would have been more than 150

Im not sure how to explain this so people stop saying "update server or fix your something" Its a known issue between server owners and it keeps happening on a daily basis.. Im not entirely clueless since im a GSP..

Its somekind of bug of somekind just look at all the posts about the same problem and most of them happened when NOT a server patch have been released.

Sorry i misunderstood the meaning and the timing of your post, there is,and always has been a big discrepency in the number of servers shown in the in-game browser and the Steam browser.

Can you tell me what your GameVersion= is in ROEngine.ini on the servers that aren't showing up in game?

The clients and servers should now be 1.1.0.5

This is from the server that has not showed up in two days ingame.

bUseVAC=true
ProductName=RO2
GameDir=ro2
GameVersion=1.1.0.5
Region=255

I got it to show up for a short time when i stopped it and let it be offline for an hour or so, and when i fired it up it worked for a few hours and then it just dissappeared

What ports are you using?

Gametracker is not showing your server. I've tried to ping the server. Both are coming up empty.

Our server says version 1.1.0.4

It has always updated fine. Steamcmd says it is up to date. Here are the commands we use:

login (our account)

force_install_dir (our directory [incase it got changed])

app_update 212542

Steamcmd then says its up to date, but looking at gameengine.ini shows 1.1.0.4

Then I tried app_update 212542 validate
Didn't work

So we reinstall the whole server from scratch. Now its 1.1.0.5 and shows up on browser.

So is something wrong with Steamcmd? Is it not updating correctly?

We run 2 servers. They've worked before in the past. We've got one of them up and in server browser: 24.231.213.2:7783

The other one can be connected to with console but we cant get it on the server browser since that update: 24.231.213:7826

All the ports are forwarded: 7826 and 27064
The version is 1.1.0.5

Just wont show up. I hope it does on its own. I will post when it does.

(your post is missing a number in the IP on the second server)

My advice would be to backup/rename/copy the config files (not the defaultxxxx.ini's) before doing the update. (get them renamed or out of the /config directory). Then restart the server to let new ones regenerate. You can make any changes needed to the one's just made.. It could well be that RO is not updating properly or it is not overwriting existing ini files. (I thought I read somewhere that the purpose of one of the patches was to avoid having the game get the version number from the .ini files. Perhaps I mis-read it).

**edit** with regards to the ports, with the old engine we had to use specific sequences of port numbers. I don't know if that is still necessary.....I'll see if I can find that old post.

HERE it is....don't know if it still holds true for RO2....specifically the last paragraph

am going to sticky this so everyone knows:

7757 UDP/IP (Game Port)
7758 UDP/IP (Query Port)
7767 UDP/IP (GameSpy Query Port)
28902 TCP/IP and UDP (Allows your Server to Connect to the Master Server Browser)
8075 TCP/IP (Port set via ListenPort that your WebAdmin will run on)
20610 UDP/IP (Steam Port)

Updated April 11, 2008:

With the recent switch to the Steam backend, if you are running more than 1 server per IP, you will need to make sure that you have some additional ports open beyond the default RO ports. If you change the default Game Port from 7757, this change will be reflected in the Master Server Port (28902) and the Steam Port (20610) as well. For instance, if you change your game port to 7767 (10 more than the default), then your Master Server Port will be 28912 (10 more than default) and your Steam port will be 20620 (10 more than default).

Not sure. We had both servers running just fine and showing on the browser prior to the update with just the ports mentioned forwarded.

I run 5 killing floor servers on the same IP just fine (but using the crazy old port forwarding system you posted

Im seeing that Tripwire only has a ton of Action mode servers up and VERY little of anything else. It looks as if they are having the same problem, yes?
