Decided to reinstall RO2 and play it, downloaded all updates, etc.
Once I got into a server, WASD keys didn't work. Tried some others, same thing. I even tried a different keyboard. WASD obviously works (typing it here) and it works on ARMA II that I just finished playing today. I couldn't find anything about this for RO2, only for RO1 with some threads dating over 2 years ago. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it - I even rebooted but to no avail.I tried "default controls" a couple of times, nope nothing. Anyone know what I can do to fix this? |

Ok, thanks for taking a look.
Just to say, I have the RO2 beta installed on steam as well. |

The issue is that your [ROGame.ROPlayerInput] section contains no binds at all.
Have you tried deleting your ROInput.ini? (also make sure it's not read only).

Arg, didn't work. Not sure what else to do.
EDIT: Deleted the whole folder, ran file integrity check.. nothing still. How can I manually add key bindings? Jumping, crouch all work. Just moving forward, backward, sideways doesn't.. EDIT2: Posts need approving so I'll edit once more... ROInput has new entries after I defaulted controls while in main menu > restarted game but the stupid thing still won't work. Attached changed file. Last edited by Wrion; 06-02-2012 at 09:35 PM. |

So I tried defaulting the controls while in the main menu, it seems the input file has new entries at the bottom:
Still not working though... |

That looks better. If it still won't let you bind, do it manually in the file. (just look at other examples)

Nah, still didn't work. Going to give up on this - obviously a bug or something. My system is recently formatted Win7. Not going to reformat for RO2.
Unless there is something else I'm missing? Default "button" is worthless and doesn't do anything. |

Deleted all folders relating to RO2 and uninstalled. Going to try a new install.

Well that didn't work - but I discovered the Steam overlay won't work either, which is weird because it was working a few days ago when I last used it.
Going to uninstall Steam and reinstall the whole thing. |

I'l gonna take a guess here. I think your issue is that the location of your 'My Documents' folder has changed / is not set correctly/ or RO2 has an access problem with the folder. Check that out.

*RAGE*
Still nothing! Tried a system restore, removed anti virus completely, changed AV, did system scan for key loggers, tried CCleaner, disabled Logitech setpoint - no luck! Removed Steam completely and re installed it on top of downloading the game 4 times. |

I had a problem with my controls as well, though not the same problem you have. I use the Arrow keys and surrounding buttons for my gaming, yet early on around launch, my bindings kept resetting to default.
Another member in the Steam forums also said their controls kept resetting and wouldn't save their settings cuz the moment they launched a game, the controls would reset a minute or two later. Perhaps this too is happening to you. The other things you have tried in your other thread in the TW Forums seems like an awful lot of work for something so simple. Try binding the keys you want for your controls and before you jump into a game or leave the control menu, Alt+Tab out of RO2 to your windows desktop, jump into your RO2 directory where the config file is located and then right-click and go to Properties > Then Mark the file as Read Only so that it can not be changed after you set it. I have also posted this in your Steam Thread as well, just in case you read that thread first. I'm not sure if the problem is with RO2 changing things around after you set them, or if it's Steam doing something in regards to updating/re-downloading your config files.... but marking the files as Read Only usually solves this problem.

Thanks for posting. Still didn't work though.
Not sure what the heck is going on. Jumping, Shooting, Aiming all work. It's the stupid WASD keys for up/back/left/right. Not working. EDIT: On-screen keyboard responds the same way lol. Last edited by Wrion; 06-04-2012 at 12:44 AM. |

As a test, go into the settings - input screen and map UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT to your arrow keys and see what will happen. Maybe it works with those keys. If it does, then at least you know that the movement functions are working and that the WASD keys are somehow not registered.
