I agree its by far the more tactical game mode and is the main mode for clan vs clan play for that reason. The problem most people has in public servers is relearning maps.Someone who is really good at TE matches find out their tactics don't fair well in CD mode. The maps play much different in CD which is the part I like.

Is TE, therefore, an unreal man's gametype?

I don't like Countdown because I have to think about what I'm doing. I'd rather just rush headlong into every single capture zone with my PPSh spraying wildly.

No. I bought the game to play it, not to sit and watch others play it.

Countdown is fine once in awhile, but it sucks joining a game in progress because you are FORCED to wait until one of the very few respawns if you are an attacker, or wait till the objective is taken if you are a defender. So what that means half the time: join game and take quick nap

Seriously, it can be a fun game mode but I prefer TE. In CD you can play very smart but all it takes is one lucky or very good shot early on and the next thing you know is you are bored staring at the screen until the objective is taken or the timer runs out.

I am a big fan of games with 1 life per round, but for first person shooters you really need to be able to see what the player sees from his perspective. You need to be able to spectate properly, and now you will get force third person or you don't see the players hands/weapon from first person.

I like having a break from the action and the tense moments 1 life can bring, but you need proper spectator tools so people can see properly whats going on

neither of those should stop you from playing. with the anti-lag, ping really doesn't matter. ten on ten is fine on most maps. the objectives just get smaller with less people.

On a server that has some decent teamwork going on CD is really awesome. Some improvements to spectating however, are welcome. Watching people in 3rd persone mode is fun, but not nearly as cool as seeing what they see (including weapon and all that). That would be the cherry on the cake for me

200+ pings is certainly a problem, even with anti-lag, and especially with 1-life gamemodes. Getting shot after you've already run behind a thick wall on your only life is not cool.

Yeah. Camping back in spawn, that's where it's all at, baby.

Dieing or staying alive, no thank you, it is simply too boring either way.

What I don't like about CD is the respawn ability of the commander. Imo, this removes it from the 'only 1 life' doctrine and all of the benefits that come from that.

To balance it, I would rather see more people in the attacking team (eg 60% attack, 40% defense).

I don't know if they have changed it yet but the reason myself and my friends don't play CD is because of the constant stopping of the game, (how each time the round ends you start all over again) they should have just made it so every time you capture a point people just spawn in again into the same round, having it continuous and not stoppy starty all the time.
