Default First person view?

Is this an engine limitation or have I not cracked it yet?

In all the mods that Ive tried (SAS, RO etc) ive never been able to go into first person when spectating. Alot of servers have spectating disabled I know, but after retail Im sure there will be many which would allow you to spectate while you'r waiting 20-30 seconds to respawn

Will you be able to spectate in first person mode in retail?

I'de prefer fade to black myself...when you're dead your disembodied soul doesn't float into the sky to observe the battlefield

i'd prefer it to be something to be Serverside. The Server owners should be able to choose how people can spectate. I guess we will see enough different Servers with Ostfront, from Ultra realism to somewhat Arcadish... perhaps it will be even a reversal of the usual thing, with some Servers having a Crosshair mod LOL...

I actually prefer the black screen myself. It's been my experience that even team restricted death cams lead to ghosting. Best to have no cam at all, IMHO.

Aww no-ones answered my question, is fpv possible on the UT engine?

It would be great to watch skilled players on servers that allow it, not to mention spectating dodgy characters. For some reason Im worried that the hard lurning curve of RO may encourage new elements in the community to cheat.

Hopefully that wont happen tho

Deathcam really doesn't belong in a realism game, in my opinion. By the way, I still think this would be the best way to implemenent "death" in RO.

Some dod servers have fade to black, and some dont. I just think that servers should have loads of different options to suit everyones taste, even being able to spectate in first person

Yes thats also in my humble opinion the best solution. One ain't forced to play on a Server with Chasecam . But its better for all to have more choices, since if you ask 2 People how a certain Feature should work, you're sure to get at least 3 different Answers ...

To answer your question, I can already spectate in FP right now...don't know why you can't...

And I like that 'helpless-lying-on-ground' idea. Great way to implement 'death' (slowly bleeding out until fade-out).

I myself would like to add spectator mode inside just to be able to watch certain players etc. But i just hope it can be possibly made so that you're fixed to the player and can't free float or look at the 3rd player that way you can't see anything that a player couldn't have said something about.

Beside that it will make it easier for some people to learn the game. by learning from more experienced players.

TBH, I never get better by watching others...I seem to get worse (because every time I watch someone very good play I just think "so he has good luck, pssh..." ) I just get better by playing more .

at somethings you can get better for instance the flow of the game. How to move around. If you need to be cautious or just run and gun etc.

How the heck would you know?

Anyway, disabling death cam is good for clan games but in pubbing it makes the game quite boring.

It's almost as bad as the cameras in The Hidden.

I think that if you die, you should go to the afterlife of your choice until you respawn. You can choose from major religions in the options menu. Others could even be modded in!

Even better, you can't respawn unless you choose a faith that believes in reincarnation.

I find it annoying if theres a long respwan and all you have to look at is ablack screen, but on the other hand if you're free to roam about the map looking at your opponents positions then that takes it too far. 3rd person spectating's ok, it keeps me amused when you see one of those comedy moments! I spose 1st person sepcing would be no different. What i'd prefer is to die with a first person view of how you end up, so you can see what happens where you died but your not free to roam about. That way you dont get bored by looking at a black screen, but you cant see where every other person is.

Jup, and as far as i know the blackscreen mutator was added because the force spectate thing was bugged and flawed so everybody once in a time could free float. If thats been fixed it will make the times when reinf run out alot more fun to see.
