No log file filled with ending the process
it just posts: DevDataBase: Connection to "Provider-sqloledb;Data Source=production-db;Initial Catalog-EngineTaskPerf;Trusted_Connection=yes;Connection Timeout=2" or "10.1.20.20" failed and then stays on splash screen, without Continuing at all, hogging all my CPU and staying at ~18MB of usage of memory. Attachments give a better detail of what happens, since Log is completely empty, and there's no dumpfile. Specs Are: (Out of Steam, Not posting installed soft.) Same happens to me. I bought this on the free-to-play weekend. Steam downloaded both the full game and the beta. Both of them get hung up on the start-up splash and display the exact same message in the log box.
This is so frustrating. |

And you have all verified the game cache etc?

Try
Navigate to: \Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config and delete the contents. ..and upon restart of the game, a new config-content is created....the files themselves are created by the game and not downloaded.. Then go through your settings again, incl. Controls. This has probably been mentioned here before, but make sure your anti-virus isn't getting in the way of loading any game files. Give your anti-virus permission to skip the RO2 files from scanning (both the ones in the steam directory and in you My Games directory). Also, rightclick on the game in you steam library, go to options, select 'Set Launch Options' and add '-windowed' (without the quotes) to it. This will launch the game in windowed mode. That way you'll be able to see any warning/errors Windows pops up when launching the game. Also, you might grab this http://majorgeeks.com/Iobit_Game_Booster_d5952.html ( http://www.majorgeeks.com/story.php?id=34508 )check the video tutorial about setup, you can disable programs etc not needed for gaming, then go back to standard mode after the fraggings done.

But still, no response. Redownloading, hopefully will help, because it's the only solution I could find after trying everything suggested. |

Started Steam today, but instead of now having the "-log" with the game launch addressing the issue, it just stays completely blank.
Downloaded 6.6MB, it installed Punkbuster |

Wish I could help more, but the only thing I can see is the connection time-out and I wonder if there is a problem there and that is why the game hangs hogging the cpu...

There might be something else wrong on your system. If you look at that screenshot, then you will notice that Explorer.exe is consuming 25% of your CPU time. I did not see an open explorer on your task bar, so it is probably your desktop. You might look into that, cos a high CPU usage for the explorer.exe process while it's just only your desktop can influence the performance of other software.

It downloaded 6.8MB of files today...
Logging still displays same error as top post. |

I second R5CYA advice. You really need cut down the number of active processes. If you don't know how to, then a tool like GameBooster can help you with that. It will create a gaming mode for you to which you can switch when you want to play RO2. In the gaming mode it disables a lot of overhead processes. This will reduce the CPU usage and frees memory for RO2.

Never mind my previous post. I only noticed now that you are using an AMD V160. That is a single core processor. Minimum requirement for RO2 is dual core. I don't think RO2 will ever be able to run on your system.

I'll third that. Looking at your task bar, you have way too much going on there for your system in addition to running cpu intensive game.

i wouldn't be so quick to give up. you'll miss a great game! can you post a screenshot with the task manager open and no ro2 running? i wanna see how much cpu is being used before you even try and run the game. is this a laptop? p.s. i'd be doing what old slow guy suggested, to clean up all those things running in the background with this stuff. "Also, you might grab this http://majorgeeks.com/Iobit_Game_Booster_d5952.html ( http://www.majorgeeks.com/story.php?id=34508 )check the video tutorial about setup, you can disable programs etc not needed for gaming, then go back to standard mode after the fraggings done." Also, it doesn't change anything to get rid of all those processes, for me (already tried your suggestion.). http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/9...screenshot.png Last edited by M4R10zM0113R; 06-09-2012 at 02:10 PM. |

you got all that stuff running while trying to play ro2? even without you posting the amount of cpu being used, i can imagine most of it's used up allready. i don't see how you can play any modern game with that much stuff running. and that's after you cleaned it up? you need to lose that stuff.
try running the program old slow guy linked to and see what happens. edit.... you tried the program and it didn't help? is that screenshot after you used the program? if so, it didn't work. |
