In the current beta build, the Enemy Spotted function works well to convey to your teammates where spotted enemies are. It's a great improvement and is very useful.
Unfortunately, it also can be used to "Detect" enemies, by merely spamming the Z key. I suggest 1 of these tweaks: 1) Don't show the indicator to the caller. After all, they should know where they were looking. This way it won't be used as an "Enemy Detector." 2) Reduce sensitivity so it works poorer through smoke, cover, and distance 3) Don't have it localize on an enemy, just work like the command widget - stick to the map geometry, and display where the caller was pointing, whether or not there really was an enemy there.

I agree. But code wise, #1 is probably the easiest to implement, and would be an improvement over the current (beta) system.

3 is the old enemy spotted system. I like the new way of visualizing it with the circle much more, but just do not like the "aimbot" nature of it.

I vote for 3.
1) is a original idea, but it's still auto spotting. Also, what about additionally being able to mark enemies (and arty for that matter) on the map?

3 all the way!
Actually I thought it was intended like this until I noticed that my marker pointed in a very different direction. No, it should really show my comrades where I think I saw an enemy. That's the only way it can work.

I don't like enemy spotted features =(.

#3, just put that oval where I was pointing. If I saw an enemy there or almost there, that is close enough and will convey the general vicinity of the person I saw to other players.
Right now, it seems that it is just bugged in the Beta Classic.

Could we maybe just get a indicator on the compass that shows the general direction of the enemy? Right now it is really to easy to have one guy in a safe position who is "scanning" and "mashing" the spotting key over the map.

Same here.
I guess it's useful and one could call it 'teamwork' but I'd rather see people communicate with compass directions (what else is it there for? We already have the T key to show people where to go, which works fanastically). |

Perhaps, but you have the problem of language barriers between players in text and voice chat. I know lots of players know English fairly well, but others don't, or don't have a mic. The enemy spotted feature works around that and its quick. No stopping to text or use voice chat.

Nobody would text or speak where a enemy is in a public. That's too complicated as the enemy is changing his position frequently and would also spam the chat/voice chat.
No, the idea is great (also done in BF3, but there it's really too unrealistic). It only needs to appear where I was pointing. Everything else is cheating.
