I just played the classic mode in the beta and I must say it looks promising. It felt like RO1. It's more of a skill to survive than not poking up your head the longest.
But there are a few things that could be improved according to me. The chat, the text is all white, it's been like that since day one but I still don't see the reasoning behind it, it's common practice to give the names different colours depending what team you're on, notices and admins have other colours, etc. Now it's hard to see who's talking to who and why. Player collision is a mixed bag, if you do it a 100% you'll get moment you're stuck in a trench while running away from bullets. Do it 0% and you'll get situation where you teamkill someone who was clipping through you, besides that it doesn't feel and look realistic in the slightest. Collision similar Valve games would do the trick, you get pushed to the side and you can't clip completely through a person. The shadows still seem weird to me but I've read you're fixing it atm but to really fix it you have to overwrite all the maps making everyone redownload them all so you rather wait untill there are more stuff to be added to maps. Don't know if that's all true. |

Yes - chat needs some color added to help differentiate messages.
The colors attached to each faction right now where it reads how many reinforcements would be ideal for the chat (similar to Ostfront). That way while I'm in battle and focused on the middle of my monitor my eyes can actually pick up on the particular colors and communication can be a lot better. Would be ideal for players without mics to be noticed if they are communicators in-game and better overall. As of right now I ignore all chat because it is a white blur on the left-hand corner of my screen. Also, just as important to add player location to the voice commands and general chat too. Example: Ivan22 entered Battle. Comrade Kaizer (Church): Need smoke SL. Fritz15: This is an example of random enemy chat that isn't Team chat; no location shown to enemy players Doesn't look great on the forums here but you get my drift. Something so small that can go a very long way.

It was exactly like Kaizer said in RO1 and it was great, I had no problems with the chat. Also there was a chat log that I think you had to change the .ini to get it but it helped communication alot.

Player clipping is definitely a big issue. In RO1 it often resulted in frustration when teammates got in the way, but having everyone clipping through each other was infinitely worse... especially when someone decided to open fire, or everyone wanted to shoot from the same vantage point. I agree that a 'push' should be added, along with player clipping - so at least you won't get totally blocked in.

Ramm said that there are plans on improving the chat but they're too busy with other things which I understand. Maybe in the next update they will improve chat.
