Default Slow Response

Normally, when I use my control for (let's say) prone or ironsight, it works smoothly. But when things start getting a bit "busy" - lots of shooting and activity - I may have to hit the control two, three, even four times before I get a response.

I have assumed it's just as there is a lot going on, maybe a bit of lag - but of course, it is a sure way to get killed in close combat.

Do other people experience it? Any way to prevent or reduce it?

Do you mean that the game stutters while you do this, or that it does it, but it doesn't stick?

It sounds like an issue with the client and server not synching up, which is probably due to the server tracking a lot of different stuff at once.

Only other thing I can think of is that it's related to your framerate. You might try reproducing this at a lower resolution or with various bells and whistles turned off.

Open console and type `stat fps` (exlude quotes) and watch your FPS during the game. What happens to you usually is caused by FPS dropping below 25 or so.

If that's the case, start lowering your settings until your system runs with minumum >25 FPS at all times.

A typical situation... I have ironsight on my right mouse button and fire on the left mouse button. A bolt action is not very accurate from the hip, so if I spot a close enemy while walking I would stop>ironsight[r.mouse]>shoot[l.mouse].

So, I click right mouse, nothing happens. I either notice and have to click again to raise the weapon (wastes time) or I don't notice and end up shooting from the hip.

Looking at your suggestions, I tested on Baksan Valley offline against bots. At the start it was OK (even with artillery shaking the view), but after a few minutes I was having to click twice to get the weapon to ironsights. My FPS was averaging about 50 most of the time, never below 40.

The only thing I did notice.. possibly..... there may have been a connection between the slow response and the bots firing with automatic weapons (not necessarily at me). I don't think I noticed it when they were firing rifles.

*note added by edit* I have tried mapping the functions to keyboard and get the same issue... it's not a mouse problem

Ahh...maybe it's a RAM/CPU problem then? Or possibly something with your hard drive accessing a ton. When's the last time you defragged?

I don't think that's the issue. It's a home build, AMD64 3500, 2GB RAM, X800Pro graphics. I can play Il2 Sturmovik, CoD2, Oblivion, with all the settings maxed out, no problems smooth as silk.
