Default Will community-made maps need to be whitelisted?

Will community-made maps need to be whitelisted in order for weapon/class ranking to work on them?

what will the whitelisting requirements be?

i'm only asking because i'm sure people won't want to play on maps that they can't level up on, so that will probably count towards someone's hard work being popular or them giving up because of some "exploit prevention team" group's decisions.

Unfortunately, it's likely, based on experience Killing Floor.

Good question. I'm sure given an infinite amount of time, TWI would be happy to whitelist any real map. The problem of course is it seems RO maps go through a fairly common very-iterative beta cycle. If LDs can be restrained into applying for a WL on only polished maps, then that would probably lower the work load, and everyone would be happy.

Maybe.. maybe not.. maps people really like and think are fun, people will play regardless.. being ranked is an added benefit and will likely expose it to alot more people, which is good. I'm sure if an non-WLed version of Arad or DE-DUST got made, people would play on it still.

Tank commanders/crew do not get any weapon/class xp, so making a tanks only map (Arad?) would be a good place to start, if i were a modder wanting to get a map whitelisted quickly.

well this is for sure going to cause a bottleneck in getting maps out, especially when this game gets older... sigh.

Red Orchestra 2 and Killing Floor do not have the same methods of community map handling. That said, I will see if I can track down information on how community maps WILL be handled in RO2. Stay tuned.

The current plan is for community maps to not need any white listing. Code is a different matter.

ok so then there will probably be a mutator whitelist/greylist?

i sure hope the sdk release saves this game, considering the numbers i see every time i open the server browser (i dont actually play anymore, i just take a look every once in a while)

i sure hope you guys try to save this game.
