I thought i make a DOW thread, because the new addon is coming
out soon.

So are any DOW players here?

Man I can't wait for the new expansion. I've wanted Tau since release of the original DoW. I just wish Tyranids were in instead of Necrons. :\

the first pic reminds me of a Cyborg crushing an Orc with its energieclaw( all that blood)

Tyranids would just slaughter everything that comes in their way

Dawn of War is excellent game, especially itīs addon Winter Assault.

It has decent SP, but on LAN it gives up itīs true potential.

I played the DOW beta online and it rocked. I can't play the full version online because I don't have enough money to buy it

Awesome game. You really owe it to yourself to play this game if you're looking for something outside of the standard 'get base, get army, attack/move command, repeat' RTS approach.


I was *really* pulling for Dark Eldar instead of Crapcons. The Necrons in no way fit into the build/tech/fight scheme. They're too damn OP (in the fluff ) to be able to be played in an RTS way.


Dark Eldar on the other hand are perfect! They're essentially space pirates. They fit the gameplay perfectly, not to mention bring a balance to the equation (IG v Tau, SM vs CSM, Eldar vs Dark Eldar, Ork vs the world ). Ah well, the decision is made. I just think Relic made a bad call on this one from a play/fluff standpoint.

i played alot... less recently.. if your still playing this game you should be playing it with the DowPro mod or not at all...

It's a good game. One of the few RTS I've enjoyed playing since Starcraft. I heard there was a WW2-mod being developed for it - does anyone know what happened with that project?

This was a free mod being developed by amateurs. Have never heard of "Company of heroes" but if it's based on the DOW-engine I will surely look it up.

Yeah, I looked it up and saw a video of ingame footage. Looks fantastic but it didn't provide much clues as to how you are controlling the troops. If they make it somewhat realistic with that engine and those graphics it could amount to be an absolutely revolutionary game. The ability to destroy terrain and buildings sounds great.
