Been having a similar issue, SP works fine, doing the steam validation usually fixes it for a while, but it will crash with the usual "Ro2.exe has stopped working"

Getting the same thing, it was working perfectly for me yesterday online, now after playing a bit of singleplayer I can't join a multiplayer game without it instantly crashing to desktop.

Have had same prob since beta, and it followed me to the full game. Have had success (so far) with deleting punkbuster thru control panel. Good Luck! Game is worth the effort.

I am getting the same issue - able to play single player.
Every time I log into a game server I get the following: -Load screens -Level loading with the text 'loading' in center of screen. -crash. Last edited by maxxra; 09-15-2011 at 11:13 AM. |

How do you UN-install punkbuster. I've tried everything...still can't get the game to play for mor than a minute or 2 - keeps crashing for the rogame.exe problem, and NO help or response from inquiries to Steam support. |

Go to control panel and uninstall punkbuster. Not sure what it does for other games that may require pb, but this workaround worked for me (as far as keeping the game from CTD'ing every few minutes. At control panel find add/remove programs icon. You should find punkbuster there.

Same here, someone needs to sticky this because the only other people I know that play the game are having the same issue. I have heard nothing about a patch coming out or a quick-fix tip from the dev team. They need to give us some sort of indicator that they actually care about the issue because this is bull----

I have been having the same issue with the game crashing to desktop as soon as a map loads. The last time that it happened I noticed that my router was blinking. I decided to hook up my pc directly to my modem and the crashes appear to be gone.

I had this problem and I just solved it by uninstalling PunkBuster, and then updating it.
PROBLEM: When I joined a server, I'd choose a side and be in the process of choosing a role when it would lock up. It didn't crash to desktop, it just froze and I'd have to shut the game down in the Task Manager. The game didn't create an error dump. First I tried uninstalling PunkBuster as Bluedboy suggested. That didn't fix it, but it did change the problem a little: It then crashed to desktop with the "rogame.exe has stopped working" error message, rather than locking up like I described above. This time it did create an error dump. SOLUTION: My next idea was to update PunkBuster so I found my way HERE and downloaded pbsetup.exe. I ran it, clicked 'add a game' and pointed it to RO2, and told it to check for updates. It did an update, and now I can join servers without crashing. Problem solved.

Since the update/patch? today I've been crashing to desktop intermit.
So......I reinstalled pb, updated pb files for r/o. Now I get in game, sometimes for maybe 20 mins, but mostly bout 15 seconds before I ctd and get " red orchestra exe stopped responding" Ya know, I still really like this game, but this is turning into a very abusive affair. I'm beginning to feel slightly violated

None of that uninstalling/updating Punkbuster worked for me, but I did manage to get it working by playing on the LOWEST GRAPHICS, it's a very ugly and disappointing gaming experience, but at least it doesn't crash, and I can still partake in the core multiplayer mechanics! Even if it DOES look awful...

Just uninstall Punkbuster from control panel and reboot the system.
I did not reinstall punkbuster. You should still be able to join the PB enabled server with no Issue. This is how I fixed my issue and so far no issue at all. In my opinion this Punkbuster thing is causing alot of issue. my original post: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.co...ad.php?t=63167 Good Luck Last edited by Gasketman; 09-16-2011 at 02:10 AM. for those of you who tried uninstalling pb and that not helping, try this. it worked for me. i couldnt play a single game cause it crashed or timed out in every multiplayer game then this fixed it all.
go to C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config and open ROEngine.ini a short way down will be [Engine.ISVHacks] and under that will be bInitializeShadersOnDemand=False and PumpWindowMessagesWhenRenderThreadStalled=False change both to True bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True PumpWindowMessagesWhenRenderThreadStalled=True and save the file and give it a shot. |

In my situation, just uninstalling the punkbuster did not work. I had to reboot the pc right after the uninstall in order for the game to work properly. |
