I am really dying to apply this patch but for now, as we don't have any confirmation from devs that it is PB/VAC secure I won't install it.
Tbh I wouldnt be surprised if in two weeks or so a horde of complainers invaded the forums because they were PB or VAC banned because of this...

There is a possible/known workaround to avoid VAC issues, it's documented here:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2106453

How to (from the thread above):

Instead of modifying the audio files directly into:
-steamapps/red orchestra2/rogame/cookedpc/packages/audio-

You need to create a copy of this folder in your documents:
-my documents/my games(or whatever)/red orchestra 2/Rogame-

So that you get:
-my documents/my games(or whatever)/red orchestra 2/Rogame/cookedpc/packages/audio-

Whatever you will place in this folder will override the equivalent file in steamapp folder (Without having to modify the files in steamapp, which is the whole point).

So in this file you just put the renamed audio files from:
-steamapps/red orchestra2/rogame/cookedpc/sounds-

Bump, immersion for the win!
C'mon devs, please give us somekind of "yes or no" answer, no need to explain why, but just to know if it's safe to do (replacing or the DI way).

Funny. Developers lied about the option menu (to change to native voices) and now we have to manually do the whole thing while being risked to possible VAC ban.

This is getting ridiculous. So many ppl complain about this matter and new topics about this matter pop up regularly and still the option is not there.
What is holding back TWI? How long will they ignore this?

I'm sick of the english voices, but not sure if I will get a VAC ban like many others out there. Can any dev take the five seconds to reply if this will or will not be considered a "cheat" by VAC and/or pb.

bumping this one again, would be nice to know if TWI is going to work in an official menu option to do this, becuz i'd rather not fiddle with files and risk any sort of trouble with VAC, as others have stated

devs, some kind of word on this, even if its just to let us know that it will be patched in at some point?

Please TW, add this as an option in the meny in the next patch, it should not be a great deal of work for you and it was promised to be in by release.

I'm quite sure it is safe... but just not sure enough. I too would like a greenlight before changing.

(even though I suppose the ban would be lifted but it would be a drag to wait for it).

I've been playing with this fix since the beta and my VAC status is perfectly fine.

You will not get VAC banned. It's been 5 weeks for me and nothing has happened. VAC is not going to ban you for using sound files that came with the game.

All right, but which one did you use? The "not recommended" or the DI method?

I have been using the native voices since we found out we can change them by just changing some files and their names, i absolutely can't stand the English sound, every time you reload your weapon as a Russian, 'Demn this gan!!'...

When sitting in a room, defending a building and hearing Germans in ACTUAL German language talking to each other in the other room really submerges you more in the game. And i don't give a whoopee if i can't understand my team mates or not, teamwork is so messed up at the moment that you barely need to understand it. And if you have heard the same command over and over you know what it means anyway. It's allot more fun to go into battle screaming HURRAAAHHH!!! Attaku!

Btw, keep the native files somewhere on your pc, when you install a big patch or verify the cache of the game it downloads the normal sound files.
