Many people haven't played the beta yet, and they paid to contribute and test it. I don't expect a perfect track record with TWI, all i'm asking for is some kind of news.

The threatening and screaming does get attention quite frequently in general discussion. I hope that isn't what you are portraying my post as. Me saying that i'll take my business elsewhere was just stating a known fact.

How many people do you think will pay for a game they cannot play?

In many new games crossfire or sli doesn't work. Just give it time, relax and and have patience

SLI or Crossfire may not work properly, I can handle that.

What about when one of the cards is more than enough to run the game and doesn't?

What if you haven't played Beta yet because it feels like a stop frame movie?

What if scouring the website here and AMD's too results in no responses.

How long does the patient consumer or player last then?

This thread has been painful to read to say the least, but I'd like to clear up a couple of things.

Firstly running 2 dual GPUs in crossfire is otherwise know as Quadfire (as there are 4 GPUs). But afaik this is slang, so who gives, it's still 4 GPUs in Crossfire.

Secondly it is entirely possible to disable 1 GPU on a dual GPU card with the newer drivers so you are left with a single GPU card for those problematic/old games. I have a 5970 and it is very easy to do, and once done much more convenient than downloading another gfx card tool. Heres how:

1. Open up CCC and set everything to default (or whatever you want default as)

2. Go to "Gaming - 3D Application Settings" and slide "Catalyst AI" down from what ever it is on (should be on "High Quality") to something else like "Performance" then click apply.

3. Now slide it back to "High Quality" and click apply again (I will explain this seemingly pointless task later)

4. Now under "Presets" click "Add Preset" and call it "Crossfire on" (or "Internal Crossfire On" or even "CFX GOGOGO" if you like) and click "save"

5. Repeat step 4 and call it the opposite, so in my case "Crossfire Off" (or in your case possibly "CFX NONONO") and click save.

6. You should have two Presets under that tab now. Next navigate to your Profiles folder. (For me on Win7 this is located "C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Pro files")
You should find 2 files corresponding to the named presets you just made.

7. Next, right click the "Crossfire Off" and open with notepad. We are ignoring pretty much all of the text here, you only want to find something that looks like this:

<Feature name="CatalystAI">
<Property name="CatalystAI" value="Enable" />

8. Once you have located that line change "Enable" to "Disable" and then save and close the folder.

And that's it! (We don't need to touch "Crossfire On" as that is set up already)

Now those 2 new pretty presets you have in CCC turn off and on internal crossfire at your whim!

You can test this by firing up your favourite game with a monitoring program like Afterburner and can see GPU2 usage will be at 0 with the "Crossfire Off" button clicked.

I hope this helps all of you. It has been immensely useful for me when a game doesn't like CF.

In regards to the pointless task eariler, we had to do this because if you don't your profile will not contain the necessary lines to edit when we open it up in notepad.

Also I have no idea how this will work with 2xDual GPU setups or what will happen so you will have to work that out yourselves if you want. (By disabling Catalyst AI you are disabling all CF so in theory it should just leave you with 1 GPU still, but don't hold me to it. Like I said I don't know I haven't tested it.)

N.B 1 thing to remember, is what setting you left it last on. I have gone from playing something like Morrowind (with crossfire off) to something like bad Company 2 only to sit there wondering why it is running so slow only because I forgot to switch crossfire back on . Anyway enough with all these words, my hands hurt now.

buddy you can't blame on TWI for lack of AMD drivers.....I'm sucking it up too and waithing for drivers that will work with CF and maeby strain both cards at 90% usage or more...?!?!?!?

Not long in your case But yea at least in my case even without crossfire (5870) I always getting 60-70fps, maybe try overclocking your processor (if you haven't), seems to help me allot with this game, though it should be more gpu demanding.

Never said that, just saying that I am lucky that my performance is good enough for enjoying this game (even though my crossfire doesnt give me any more fps).

I have the 5870 as well and got way less. I'll be upgrading my cpu soon, let's see what the difference will be... even though it was supposed to be "more gpu intensive".

We are still working with AMD to pinpoint what is going wrong. We'll update you guys when we have something.

Thanks.

I just updated my graphic card drivers, I had the previous one installed. I did a clean install of the driver and I tried to play again but the performance was the same. If I set everything to lowest and turn off Bloom and everything I can do 80-99 fps most places but the game still lags and glitches all over the place, its barely playable even with that fps. I dont know what the problem is.

I really hope for TWI's sake this is ironed out before launch. This could be make or break.

Yes and no. Most users don't have multiple GPUs, so they don't notice this as a problem. As nice as having Crossfire is, you and I are still in the minority, so it isn't as big an issue as you might hope it to be, especially considering the number of other issues that exist at the moment.

I still agree with your sentiments though, it's a real pain having to disable Crossfire to get the game to be playable.

Just out of interest, did you try the suggestion made by phildogtheman? It's a pain in the arse to do I'm sure, but it might actually get you into the game which is surely better than nothing?

I have AMD card non crossfire and it gets about 20-30 fps on low or high settings seems strange to me. Don't want RO2 to get bad review for this performance troll we got. I know it will be fixed in time if not by the 13th.

Can also confirm even after the latest "optimization" patch the game still runs like crap for me @ 5760x1080 on Ultra. Swapping over to single monitor gives playeable frames.

6990
I7-960 @4.7Ghz Watercooled
12GB Corsair dominator 2000Mhz
Intel 120GB SSD
Samsung 1TB
Rampage Extreme III

No way in hell i'm going back to single monitor gaming. So this is a deal-breaker for me Hopefully it will be resolved prior to launch. Else it's refund time.

No I have not, and to be completely honest i'm not going to either. Just for the reason you said, I can handle disabling crossfire if that worked, but i'm not going to jump through that many hoops just to make something possibly playable with a fraction of the hardware.

I really appreciate those of you that helpfully posted, but I'm done with the forum boards here. Its 3 days until launch, it's just a waiting game now. My fingers are crossed that Tripwire pulls the miracle off, I REALLY REALLY do not want to have to say that I asked for a refund on a TWI game. Especially after selling the game to my friends, who half of which run dual GPU cards and cannot play.

Thanks for your time and effort.
