Default Game crashing at start

EDIT: the source of my problem was a USB headset
for those looking for solutions
i just unplugged it and the game stopped crashing

Alright I know it's been addressed - but here's the deal
1) Running the redist.exe did not fix it
2) running pb did not fix it
3) verifying game cache did not fix it
4) deleted the folder, copied my friend's dl from his computer, did not fix it
5) went into ROconfig.ini and changed the default resolution to 1366 by 768 - no luck
6) checked for directX update - i'm updated (drivers also updated)

Basically any solution that has worked for others elsewhere isn't cutting it
Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.00 ghz (yes, a tad bellow, but would this make me instantly crash at the menu?)
Nvidea geforce 130M (at 1024 mb)

and some dump files.
there's quite a few i'll put a megaupload link

Thanks TWI for your hard work
if it's my processor than i suppose its ok... new rig in two days
but if it can be fixed it would be nice
i'd rather play it laggy than not at all ehe

edit:
attached my log file (edited only because I don't like posting my IP :P)

Nearly the same problem here. Can't get the game started. The loading screen pops up shortly and then I get the following error code:

error message: rogame.exe doesn't work anymore

1) Running the redist.exe did not fix it
2) running pb did not fix it
3) verifying game cache did not fix it

Done that too so far, without any real improvement.

My specs are:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor (3.2GHz)
4096MB RAM
GeForceGTX460
Win 7 Professionel 64bit

Where is the ROconfig.ini actually located?

dmp file: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=08DTIEUJ

/edit Turning of Firewall and AVG didn't help either.

Roconfig can be found at:

C:\Users\(yourusername)\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ROGame\Config

woke up this morning in hopes it'd magically work, it didn't

I tried running in XP compatibility mode (running windows 7) and I get an error that "i need steam to play RO2"

and your getting the same problem with your setup so it's probably not my hardware

going to try updating my nvidea drivers (i last updated a month ago)

Checked all the compability modes, updated my directx and nvidea drivers, still nothing.

Strangely in my /Config folder on the path you mentioned above there is no Roconfig file.
All I got are RoCombat, ROEngine, ROGame, ROInput, ROLightmass and ROUI and I searched each of those for the resoltuion setting without success.

/edit Next thing I try will be sacrificing a chicken while dancing naked arround my rig at fool moon as I'm at my wit's end atm.

just updated nvidea drives to 280 (from 275)
still nothing

aaand my apologies
i believe it's roengine you need
then CTRL F: resx

then change resx and resy to your native
although.... that was just something i thought might work and didn't. but worth a try if you like

as for my wits
i may join you in your dancing naked chicken dance
i'll bring the drinks

as for now I have to go out for the day
i'll just cross my fingers that i'll come home and there will be a fix

pray to the IS2 is all we can do

I'm getting this problem too, tried disabling the in-game community but that didn't work, hope we can get this fixed before the actual release date haha

perhaps we need to upgrade processor drivers?
although i can find no such thing for my processor

one big thing i'm worried about is that this seems to be being overlooked.
Yes I know their are plenty of bugs to be dealt with
but the majority of users who used the redist and had it work have passed over this and there is no other support (as of now) for people still not being able to start the game

I hope there is a hotfix/patch soon

ok as weird as it sounds drivers exist for processors. Try to update the drivers for your processor using AMDs website, and your motherboards drivers.

Next to that try to run th exe manually:

steam\steamapps\common\redorchestra2beta\binaries\ win32\ROGame.exe

it shouldn't launch the game but it should say if any important files are missing.

Hmm I had the same problem and updating my graphics driver fixed it (after I tried all the other fixes like installing the UE3dist.) Leave no driver un-updated :P

Now of course I'm crashing everywhere else(server browser. when attempting to load into a game) but one step at a time

There are no drivers for my Phenom X4, the X2 processors actually needed a driver but AMD doesn't list any drivers for my X4 on it's support page.
Got a USB headset too, but sadly -nosound didn't work for me here.

So far updated/tested:
  • dx update
  • gfx card driver (newest nvidea driver)
  • -nosound as start option
  • installed die UE3 thingie which helped most
Guess I gonna have to find a farmer who sells me a chicken for my sacrifice - pls don't infrom P.E.T.A.

did you try just unplugging the headset?
that worked as well for me
make sure your default windows sound is not set to usb headphones/speakers

other than that
P.E.T.A won't hear a thing

Unplugged headset, installed new chipset and audiodrivers for my Mainboard, unplugged my Joystick - nothing.
At the moment I'm considering to unplugg my steelseries gaming keyboard but I don't have a spare one.

/edit Starting the game manually tells me "STEAM is required to play the BETA". Nothing more.

Here are my full system specs:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 (3.2GHz)
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H
RAM: 4096MB
GFX-card: Nvidea GeForce 460GTX
Monitor: 1 BenQ XL2410T running at 1280x1020 @ 120Hz native (3D mode not activated)
Monitor: 2 BenQFP91G+ just because I still got it
OS: Win7 Professional 64bit

I cannot launch the game. I get no error message, the game just doesn't launch. Is there any other solution besides "take it up with steam support?" Steam support won't actually do anything and they will take a minimum of 4 days to reply with a useless response that won't help me.
