7.62x39 whoopie. Sorry. I used an M4 which we know goes off 5.56 NATO. You're right. I'm no expert on the Kalashnikov.

Oh I just had a bullet ricochet off of the wall next to me, the shooter must be at C3.

I think it's based on just the visual or audio of the shot, things someone would have no trouble determining.
It doesn't take much sense to figure out what direction the nearest loud bang came from. And even then the in-game marker is only approximate. |

And you'd rather not immerse yourself further by figuring these things out yourself instead of having it rollercoastered for you?

if you really were an "expert" I don't think you would need to validate this claim with a bunch of people you have never met arguing over a small detail in a game that isn't released yet. |

I dunno, maybe it's only included in the "relaxed" realism setting?
I'd prefer to have the senses I would have in reality. And since it's already been demonstrated that things like muzzle flashes can be missed more easily in a video game than in reality, the markers help bridge that gap. Edit: Quote:

Also there are many variables that play in, such as what guns are being used , distance, rate of fire etc to determine the location of the incoming fire. Soldiers are usually well trained and figure it out pretty quickly but a red arrow pointing.. I've no issue at all with these kinda things as long as we can disable them server-side.

Not everyone has 3D surround sound.
Assuming RO2 even supports that. |

Bullets produce a fair bit of wake around them. If one passes close by you you'll probably be able to feel where it came from.
In real life you have 5 senses, you have two senses available in games. TW is just trying to make suitable visual and audio replacements for things you'd normally be able to sense. Also, this is a peripheral indicator. Normally you'd be able to see movement or a muzzle flash in your peripheral, but a peripheral; once again, is not something that can be mimicked in game without an indicator. Also, peripherals can be mimicked in games just fine, it's just the cap on FoV in game is limiting. It's still 100% unrealistic no matter how your roll the dice.

For all of you arguing who have never even held a rifle...
Real combat would like to oppose all of your points: ‪Marine Firefight Afghanistan (VERY INTENSE!)‬‏ - YouTube ‪A Real-Life Firefight in Afghanistan‬‏ - YouTube ‪Actual Fire Fight-Khost Province of Afghanistan..wmv‬‏ - YouTube Case in point, if you're disagreeing with me, you're clearly wrong - and have no IDEA what you're talking about. On top of that, back to the topic. Will there be an option to disable this in SVAR? I suppose we'll have to wait and see at this point.

At this point.. I hope not. Just because it's inane and banal of you to argue so fervently over it.

So it doesn't matter that he's right or just wants it as a server option, as long as he doesn't get his way because he spanked you verbally over how wrong you were.
I guess we can't all be logical and reasonable people. |

This blob might actually be a peripheral vision marker for a muzzle flash that You would see in real life, but You can't in video game because of it's specific limitations.
If so, it should stay even on realism servers imho. Have more faith Guys, TWI has it all preety much figured out.

I already tried to point this out as have others, but he has convinced himself that he knows best and everybody else is wrong, so I left him to it ![]() Edit: If there is a dayglow arrow that indicates who shot you, then I'm with the OP and would like to be able to disable it
