Default EA cancelling BF2142?

http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com...y.php?id=32976

Supposedly, EA/DICE listened to the fans for once. A recent poll showed that many people were against the release of BF2142, so EA scrapped the project...amazing.

EDIT: A quote from DICE's EP
Quote:
Furthermore a decision was made to focus on supporting Battlefield 2 through patches and listening to the entire community instead of the crying sounds of pubnubs.
EDIT 2: /me is sad

except isn't Ghost recon a realistic near future infantry game, and BF2142 a sci fi action game with mechs? Not really that similar ;P

Why don't people realize that we get sh*t information on this day?

*edit*
Ghost Recon is an Ubi-Soft game. If you don't immediately recognize Ubi, it's EA with business ethics.

Never ever utter the words "realistic" in the same sentence with a title of a Red Storm game. The last one of those died with Ravenshield.

And I am really looking forward to BF2142, because this scenario fits the way the BF series is played best. Also, I really missed some good mech action since Mechwarrior 4

wow, only in EA is "listening to the community" an april fool's joke. I can imagine them now sipping their wine in their mansions laughing their asses off.

Except that if anyone could screw up mechs, it would be EA :P .

Actually I hope they have some spider tanks like in GITS:SAC, that would almost get me to buy it.

I seriously doubt the mech combat will anything near as good as the mech series, allthough if im wrong let me know cos i too wouldnt mind some mech combat on a modern engine.

I just find mechs terribly inefficient. Main battle vehicles shouldn't be able to trip, and they definitely shouldn't be topheavy and on stilts.
