Default Consensus on tank cannon distances?

I keep reading widely varying values for how for, say a T-34-85's cannon needs to be to penetrate (frontal) Panther* or Tiger armor.

Does anyone any reputable / trustworthy and not to biased info on what the actual distances were?

* 3.3 models this to be just under 100meters, but that seems a little short.

Couldn't the T-34 only penetrate the Tiger's rear armor?

Well, I have various Soviet-derived data on test firings of most Soviet weaponry, which appears to be pretty accurate... but what's it worth to share it ?

Gawd, I hope it makes it into ROOST.

BTW: does 3.3 currently model the turret and mantel armor as accurately as the rest of the tank?
