Default What Do You Think of the Visuals?

We want to hear from you guys, whether you've only seen the video or you've played the latest build of the game. What do you think of the visuals? Feel free to get more descriptive by posting a response rather than just voting

Overall, the graphics are great. I just think that when you are starting to lose the battle against an other dancer, it gets a bit hard to distinguish the color of the blocks. Especially with the orange, yellow and red blocks. That might just be me because of the color calibration of my screen though.

I think there could be something to make it easier to recognize whether you are winning or losing.

You know, we've been concerned about that. We've reduced the amount it greyscales quite a bit, but I'll reduce it more...no reason for it to punish you even more when you're already losing.

Yeah, I definitely agree. Might you have some suggestions for us? I'm sure we can come up with something, but I'd love to get you guys involved in the discussion.

I don't think that something could be more effective than the two bars at the top. Even if you could skip the tutorials, anyone would understand that you are winning if the bar is filled up on your side.
Spoiler!

On a different note, is there going to be different backgrounds for each difficulty or for each characters?

That's true, but we could still do something more to let people know without making them look up...not sure what, yet, though.

Yes, there will be different backgrounds for every different Tour. We are also going to be implementing an idea that someone had suggested, which is to go back to the Battle Selection screen at the end of a Tour(and do some celebration type thing for the player having beaten a tour).

Default Focusing the gameplay

u-s-e-r,

Hello! I'm the other half (well, 1/3 if you include Steve) of Greater Good Games. I wanted to thank you for your feedback about how it is difficult to tell whether you're winning or losing. I'd like to share some of the changes we're implementing to hopefully improve your experience with the game.

In the image I'm embedding, you should notice that the "crowd bar" has been replaced with two arrows that float around the exterior of the gameplay area. If they're on your half of the circle, you're winning, if they're on your opponent's half, you're losing.

Knowing how well you were playing, and when you could affect the crowd bar was another abstraction that needed to be dealt with. Three improvements have been made here:

1) What we are implementing here is a multiplier ring that charges up as you hit the beats on time. When the ring fills up, you get another block in the center piece.

2) We've done away with selecting your various dance moves, and streamlined it so that the more blocks you clear at once, the more the crowd bar reacts in your favor.

3) You'll know when blocks are able to be cleared (and therefore when you can perform a dance move) because they will have a glow that will pulse to the beat of the song.

These changes should be available in a new download in the coming week or two. If you have some other suggestions, we definitely welcome them! Thanks again for your feedback; it's a critical eye like yours that really helps us to make Break Blocks a better game.

Sincerely,

Noah Wood

P.S. Kindly ignore the fact that I apparently have gotten pwned in this pic.

From what I can see from the trailer, I think it looks quite nice! It's obviously not Crysis, but it's an effective, happy, colourful, simple, pleasing sort of style. C:

Thank you for the kind words, Gibby. That has certainly been our attempt, to make the visuals effectively pleasing to support the gameplay =)

I decided to do this after a number of Europeans pointed out that Google Checkout is tied to credit cards, which a lot of Europeans are smart enough to not use =)

Cool game, the graphics are unique, which is something you should try to keep.

I like it, good work!

Decided to take a look at how's the game progressing and the changes you have made look really good, the streamlining changes look like they make it easier to focus on the gameplay and, as such, the game also feels more polished. Seems like the right direction, now the important gameplay visuals dont feel as fragmented as before.

Have to take a look at the game, play it and see the changes for myself.
