Really sucks since over the past couple of years, I really can't drink more than 4 or 5 good beers at a sitting without suffering some sort of hangover the next day. And that is with drinking equal amounts of water and eating and taking vitamins and getting plenty of rest etc etc.

Bummer. It puts a damper on socializing and drinking other beverages (soda etc bleh) just doesn't cut it. Water all the time sucks too. I really do enjoy a good microbrewed beer of all styles. A few everynight makes no difference, but more than that I know the next day I will really feel it. Now I have greying hair, put on a few extra pounds, things like that and I don't care, but for some reason this actually bothers me.

Far cry from years ago when I put away 12-18 beers at a picnic and barely noticed it the next day, if at all.
i can relate to that. when i was younger i could drink myself senseless and would be ok again the next day. nowadays, after semi-heavy drinking the hangover sometimes sticks around for two days. i try to drink less because of it, but you know how it is on parties. once you're half-drunk it's not easy to stop. sometimes i wish i would puke more often, i would feel better the next day. but i seem to have an iron stomach and inducing vomiting isn't my style . going for a walk always improved the situation, that is the only thing that helps besides drinking lots of water.
some of my hair starts to turn grey as well, at least it doesn't fall out yet

Bah!
The problem is as you get older you have to dig deep to find that little bit of extra energy to keep you going, drinking does not help at all.

So over the last few years I've cut out the beer and anything considered strong.
I have a bit of wine (I live in France) which I have managed to convince myself is good for the soul .
I have a bottle of schnapps that I keep for "medicinal purposes" but as I am pretty much in good health and have not had a cold/flu this year, remains unopened (mirabelle, hand distiled /51° ).

I don't know how people keep on drinking and getting drunk every night down the pub, you don't see it much in France but in England its *ucking sad.
Sometimes I slip up and have a couple of beers but I regret it afterward.

As far as hangovers are concerned, I didn't even know what one was until the age of 35 or so, believe me it wasn't for lack of trying.

None of my boys drink, nothing could please me more.

The devil's own.

So today f-in Beiber played a concert here, just that's enough to make it a FUUU day. Bloody hell, the city was full of screaming teenage girls. And no, that's not a positive thing... god they're annoying.

Like one guy on the radio said it "Oslo town is full of moist Hello Kitty panties"

They call it google fail... I call it failure to check your work.

I guess they (the reporters/producers) believe everything they see and hear from any source. oh wait... its the news media. Of course they do

Craaap.

Okay, I'm having a problem with some jpg and mpeg files being inaccessible after moving them from place to place within my external drive. Now, before the pr0n jokes start, if this was just about porn pics I wouldn't come here to ask for help. These are photos and movies of family and friends so they are quite irreplaceable to me. Honestly, the fix is probably so simple that it'll end up being embarrassing, but I just can't seem to get these things to display. Halp.

So, to start, I'm working within an external drive. I have different folders setup for different events/people etc. I also had a bunch of free floating pics that weren't resting inside one of these folders because I was being lazy at the time I added them to the drive. So what I was doing was cleaning my drive up and putting the pics, by highlighting a big batch of them and dragging them, into an appropriate folder. Now, some of the free floating pics were apparently duplicates of pics that were already residing in said folders. So when I moved these pics into the folders I was given the 'these files already exist in this folder, would you like to replace them' message, to which I would say 'yes to all'. Then, I would go into those folders and double-click on the jpg files I just moved, this is where it gets weird, the file would open the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer by default, but instead of displaying the pic it would say 'no preview available'. Okay. So I try opening one of these jpg's in Paint, 'access denied'. Try to open it in GIMP, 'permission denied'.

What the hell is causing this? I mean, how many millions of times have I done this before, moving files around between folders etc and I've never had this happen.. so frustrating and frankly, embarrassing. I've been going into every submenu possible, nothing is working. What's also strange is that if I hover my mouse over any of the pics, it will tell me the size of the pic. I have these in thumbnail view within the folders and instead of showing a thumb of the pic it shows the standard jpeg icon with the little sunset over the water. Any ideas on how to get these jpeg/mpeg files to come correct?

Rez, try right-clicking the top folder and going to Properties > Security > Edit
Just add Everyone with Full Control if possible, or go into Advanced > Owner and set yourself as owner.

You might want to be logged in as Administrator or open Windows Explorer as Admin as well before doing this.

External drives and NTFS is a ticking timebomb if you ask me, if you have to reinstall your OS it won't let you access your files on external drives if your UID has changed. So best just set the entire drive as Everyone: Full Control...

Let us know how it goes yea.

Yesterday me and my dad went to the container park to throw some old junk away. When we were there I realized that the old junk was actually mine. Boxes from old games, random objects I used to use, homework, schoolbooks.
I tried to save some of them but the only thing I managed to keep are audio casette tapes from my dad.

I'm not a materialistic person, I don't want to keep all that stuff just to own as much as possible. The thing is in my eyes the objects you own tell a story about you as a person. Every little thing you use wears down and the "damage" on the object makes it unique, nowhere in the world will you find the same object with the same characteristics which is why i always try to use my stuff untill it falls apart and why I enjoy using old stuff. Everything I use and leave behind reflects myself and when I die the only thing that will be left of me is the stuff I used to own and use.

But now a large portion of my childhood is lost, homework I used to seriously dislike but did anyway because I had to, I never liked highschool but that doesn't mean I want to forget about it, I want to remember those times, reading the stuff I wrote explains how I used to be. But now all I have left of it is memories, but they will be lost in time like tears in rain.

If you wanted to keep some of it but failed... I'm guessing your dad was being a bit of a dick about it? Stuff like that is awesome. I've managed to keep some things, not very much, like that and I'll hopefully hang onto them until I'm an old man.
