I've been at the site and the funny thing is that you actually suffer from less radiation there, then you would during a normal day outside the bunker/halls.
Just kicking the problem down the road for the next generation....

Imo, if a country/state/city uses the power, then that country/state/city has to deal with the waste. Some states here in the US are already balking at taking on more waste from out of state plants....

I'm not against "alternative" power. I just feel that in the rush to get off of fossil fuels, we were goaded into this 'safe' power source (Chernobyl/Fukushima Daiichi anyone?) without regard for the 'by-product'.

I can see the water vapor plume from cooling tower of the Grand Gulf nuclear plant from my house. During the 9/11 crisis, when all planes were grounded (including crop dusters) we would routinely see fighters doing fly-bys. Nothing to worry about, right? If that thing goes, my whole livelyhood goes with it. Wonder why they didn't build it in the city that benefits most from it, but chose to put it out in the middle of the delta farmland?

Well I'm all ears for a new source of power which can supply our needs without an immense increase in electricity costs ( which is where it all comes down to in the end, agree? ). In the Netherlands were are thinking about tidal energy, but that's far more sophisticated then most people want to believe, maintenance is one of the things that comes into play.

If the research centers get fusion power to work as intended it can replace the nuclear stations, however I don't think you'll see it work for the next 30-50 years. That's hopefully the final solution ( Only the core of the reactor will get radioactive!) to our electricity needs and it's very safe. If you haven't read up on it already, you should!

Well, I'm normally up around 5am, but yeah, he should be considerate of his neighbors.

Okay just making sure.

No worries though. He has since apologized by getting out the weed whacker followed by the leaf blower.

We're reaching astronomical levels of c*** now.

You'd think they could launch that nuclear waste into the sun or space, but then you realize rockets have a tendency to explode. Maybe if they ever build a reliable space elevator.

Man, I've got an inconsiderate neighbor story as well.

A couple of guys (poofs, not that there's anything wrong with that) moved in to the house that shares the back fence with me. Before these guys showed up the neighborhood was nice and quiet, real peaceful. Now, I live on a nightclub farm. Let me explain.

Upon moving in these guys install moderately sized outdoor speakers hanging under the roof overhang pointed in the direction of my place. They play the crappiest radio slop music at volumes that compete with my TV which I'm sitting only about 13 feet away from. The bass just cuts through my house even though I have double-paned glass. On top of that, the cupcakes have about 10 chickens they let free range (which is illegal in my city), the pen they keep them in is right up against the fence (which is also illegal; it has to be at least 20 feet away from the property line), aaaaand, they have a rooster. A ****ING ROOSTER. In 36 years of my life I've never had to live next door to a rooster. Mind you, this isn't a rural area. I don't live on the outskirts of town. This is right in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. Before the sun comes up everyday that damned rooster just goes off and he doesnt stop until like 9am. Every 15 seconds for hours - ROOKA ROOKA ROOOO!

I called code enforcement for my city. It took a few complaints to the city to finally get the sweeties to come correct but I can at least sleep now. As for the music, it's been mostly on the weekends so I've let it slide, but if it bleeds into the weekdays they'll hear from the city again.

C*NTS!

I'm out here in the country and still haven't lived next to a rooster!

Curious , where do you live? I live on the west coast and our city neighbors used to have chickens/roosters. Even had the section 8 house next to us grow corn in their front yard . . .

The worst I get is a persistent sheep next to my friend's house. Though recently I have been seeing packs of presumably escaped chickens wandering around town on the roads.

To be perfectly fair, their chickens are beautiful. I'm an animal lover and don't have any problems with the chickens themselves.. but anything that makes that much noise before the damn Sun comes up - I HATES IT

Today one of my game's servers kept crashing, there was some insane lag, and almost every game had hackers in them. In frustration, I rage quitted. Also, my foot that got crushed by a table 22 days ago has started to swell up. It is prrobably because of the damaged tendons, and it was even worse because I had to work today, wear these heavy duty steal-toe boots which come with no padding, and walk home in the burning hot weather in my uniform without a backpack or money (It was at home). Did I mention the job I work at gives you a half an hour break, involves dealing with selfish and ignorant people, running around, and almost ALWAYS standing? Probably not, but if your the customer, everything is fine. Tim Hortons, my first job.

But, that is nothing compared to the fact that there is NO MILK in the fridge!!! I LOVE MILK! I am dying to have some!! ARGHHH!!

I'm kind of glad I'm just a kid, reading all your grown up problems makes me scared to be one of you.

Well, as I have gotten older and drank less, my ability to avoid the effects of hangovers has also lessened. Most likely due to decreased levels of certain enzymes such as ADH and ADLH from what I have discovered.

Really sucks since over the past couple of years, I really can't drink more than 4 or 5 good beers at a sitting without suffering some sort of hangover the next day. And that is with drinking equal amounts of water and eating and taking vitamins and getting plenty of rest etc etc.

Bummer. It puts a damper on socializing and drinking other beverages (soda etc bleh) just doesn't cut it. Water all the time sucks too. I really do enjoy a good microbrewed beer of all styles. A few everynight makes no difference, but more than that I know the next day I will really feel it. Now I have greying hair, put on a few extra pounds, things like that and I don't care, but for some reason this actually bothers me.

Far cry from years ago when I put away 12-18 beers at a picnic and barely noticed it the next day, if at all.

Found a tick on me, probably picked it up when I went swimming in the lake yesterday... then caught another one crawling up my sock after being outside for less than a minute. This place was already buggy, I hope I don't have to be here to see the full effects of the warming climate.

I haven't had a drink in.........hell, I forget. But I still have hangovers. In fact, I have come to the conclusion that all those hangovers from the college days weren't from alchohol but from staying up so late. If I stay up too late now, I'll have the same hangover symptoms I remember from those wild nights. Old age. Its a *****.....and then you die....
